This Wonton Noodle Soup took me back to HK 🇭🇰 As Queens native, I’m pretty embarrassed to say that the first time I had @Maxi’s Noodle was a few months ago 😅 I eat a lot more Cantonese food these days, because my wife is from Hong Kong and the noodle soup here is awesome!
Maxi’s Noodle (📍135-11 38th Ave, Queens, NY) duck egg noodles are really springy and nicely. They were literally like fine threads of silk, and their plump and delicately gift-wrapped wonton were filled with juicy shrimp. I also really loved their Dace Fishballs! What makes the food at Valla Table so special is that they pay homage to the ingredients and flavors they grew up with 🇹🇭 This is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. In my opinion, Valla Table (📍641 10th Ave, New York, NY), makes some of the most delicious Thai food in all of NYC. However, I wanted to focus on their Khao Soi, because the noodles and broth really stand out. Chuck and his team import their Khao Soi noodles from Chang Mai. As a result, the noodles have a different “life” to them. Extremely bouncy and perfectly chewy. Elite hand-pulled noodles to kick off the new year! 🍜 I tried the lamb hand-pulled noodle soup from Henan Hui Mian after watching @The Bing Buzz’s video. These were some of the best noodles I’ve ever had. Making these noodles requires incredible finesse and skill. At Henan Hui Mian (📍136-31 41st Ave, Queens, NY), their broth is also extremely special. Lamb bones, herbs, and aromatics are continuously simmered to create a milky white soup. The noodles are bouncy and have great elasticity.
