Replying to @Charlie Mc Great question! We screwed in PVC end caps to the top of the lid and then inserted the pvc pipe into the end caps! Holds it up real well! #DIYGardening #GardeningTips #UrbanGardening #GrowYourOwn #GardenProjects #HomeGarden #SustainableLiving #GardenInspiration #BackyardGardening #diygarden #pvc #gardentips #gardening101 #gardentok

🌱 How to Build a DIY Aeroponic System for Plants 👉 Start with a plastic bin made from HDPE. 👉 Use a 2-inch hole saw to cut holes in the lid. Be careful—sometimes the hole saw can kick if the plastic cracks instead of cutting smoothly. 👉 Clean up the edges with a deburring tool and sandpaper, then wash the bins. 👉 Place the bins on the grow rack. 👉 Add airstones inside, run the tubing, and connect them to an air pump that runs 24/7. 👉 Set up the misting device, attaching it to a water pump with a timer to mist the roots with a fertilizer-water mix throughout the day. 🥳 And that's it! This simple DIY aeroponic system has been one of our favorite ways to grow greens indoors with minimal effort. We've had great success with Swiss chard, collards, kale, pak choi, and tatsoi. We actually started building these in 2018, before we launched On The Grow, and they’ve been a go-to ever since. Just keep in mind that they can leak, so be mindful of placement and consider using a rubber floor mat if needed. I loved growing my own pinto beans last year, and this year I plan to do even more and harvest as much as I can to store! 🫘 . . . #gardentok #gardening #vegetablegarden #gardeningtips #growyourownfood #backyardgarden #homemaker #slowliving #homegrown #raisedbedgarden
Here's why I bury eggs under my tomato plants👇 I know, I know. This is weird. I read about this little hack about 5 years ago, probably in @The Old Farmer’s Almanac or something similar. The idea behind this is that the egg breaks down slowly for a steady drip of calcium, preventing blossom end rot on your tomato plants. I also add bone meal and worm castings when I plant tomatoes so I wasn't sure if the egg was actually necessary? But I decided to try it. So I divided my tomato rows in half. One half of the tomato plants got an egg and the other did not. Guess what... the egg side was a toot taller, had less blight, and more fruit. I was still skeptical so I repeated my experiment again the next year but I did 2/3 with eggs this time. Once again, the plants with eggs beneath them grew stronger and healthier. So that's the story of how I started saving up eggs every April to plant in my garden with the tomato seedlings.🍅🌱 What's the weirdest garden hack you've tried that actually worked? #organicgardening #gardenhack #gardeninghacks #gardeningtips #gardeningideas #tomatogarden #gardeningideas #beginnergardener #beginnergardening #growfoodnotlawns
🌱 How It Works: DIY Aeroponic System Watering Setup. A lot of people asked, and there are two ways to setup the watering on the DIY Aeroponic System build that we shared. 😊 👉 Option 1 – You can get this pre-made spray manifold on Amazon. It connects to your water pump with tubing and sprays the roots. Its super easy to install and you can find the link for it in our bio. 👉 Option 2 – You can build your own misting device by using irrigation tubing and micro sprinkler heads. This lets you customize your mister setup, but it takes a bit more effort. And sometimes finding the pieces, and putting them together can be challenging. However, it does work really well if you get the right pieces. Both options connect to a water pump, which is plugged into a timer. The timer runs every 30 minutes for 15 minutes a day. 💧💧💧 And that’s how we water our plants! 🥳 If you're concerned about plastics, we encourage you to do your own research and choose what feels right for you. We grow for personal consumption and use materials we’re comfortable with. #verticalgarden #hydroponics #gardening #agriculture #diygarden #urbanfarmer #DIY #containergardening #growyourown #knowyourfarmer #microgreensfarm #DIYgarden #GardeningTips #DIYproject

We’ve had some great questions about how we attach the cross panels on our DIY PVC dome hoophouses, so we put together a quick video to show you exactly how we did it! To add extra support for the structure and cover, we used PVC piping as cross panels. It’s super simple: ✔️ When placing the arch, we added three T-connectors on each side. ✔️ We measured to ensure they were at the same height, then secured them in place with screws to prevent shifting. ✔️ For the center connection, we found that using a zip-tie worked best—no worries about screws rubbing against the cover! Check out the video to see this in action! 🎥👇 #DIYGarden #Hoophouse #SeasonExtension #GrowYourOwnFood #DIYGardening #GardeningTips #UrbanGardening #GrowYourOwn #GardenProjects #HomeGarden #SustainableLiving #GardenInspiration #BackyardGardening #pvc #gardentips #gardening101 #gardentok

If I could only grow 3 types of blooms in my cut flower garden it would be these. 🌸⬇️ 🌸 Zinnias - they are super easy to grow from seed, there are lots of different varieties to choose, they are cut and come again early summer through fall. Zinnias bloom like crazy, they look incredible both in the garden and a bouquet. They are a must-have, even if you are new to the gardening scene. 🌸 Dahlias - while not on my easy-care list of flowers to grow you cannot beat them in a cut flower or cottage garden. If you’ve not grown them before, it’s not that they are hard to grow but rather need a little more time from you as a gardener. But don’t let that scare you because they are WORTH IT if you are up to it. The flowers are crazy beautiful and unique that they can’t be rivaled. Cut them often and you’ll have both a garden and house full of flowers summer through. 🌸 Snapdragons - another flower bloom that’s easy to grow from seed with lots of different really beautiful varieties to choose from. They start blooming in late spring, slow down a little on the summer heat, but pick back up again in fall without skipping a beat here in my zone 6b garden. They too, are cut and come again flowers, so the more you snip the more you’ll have. Deer and rabbits tend to leave them alone too. Save and share this post with a friend you think would love growing these too! And tell me in the comments below what would your 3 must-have blooms be in a cut flower garden?🌸 Want more flower gardening inspo?
