No matter the terrain, Monte will guide the way! ❄🦮 Guide dogs must be prepared to work in all kinds of weather, and former @NYIslesPup Monte is no exception. Every day, he guides his handler, Tom, from building to building at the university where Tom works. Even in the snow, Monte ensures that Tom reaches his destination safely. Snow brings unique challenges as it can cover familiar landmarks and change the environment Monte knows so well. With teamwork, trust, and determination, Tom and Monte navigate every obstacle together. 💙 VD: The video begins with Monte, a black lab, guiding his handler through a snowy scene. The text reads “navigate the snow with Monte!” The clip is taken from Tom’s perspective, looking down at Monte. The pair walk on the sidewalk and cross a street together. The second video shows Monte sitting on grass in the snow. The snowflakes fall on his face. Tom brings the camera to his nose and gently taps it with a “boop!” #guidedog #guidedogfoundation #snowday #snowy #obstaclenavigator #blind #lowvision #doglover #puplove #workingdog #nonprofit #snowdog

Today is World Braille Day! This day serves as a reminder of how accessible tools, like braille, empower individuals who are blind or have low vision. A few of our guide dogs in training proudly wear bandanas featuring their names in braille, symbolizing their future role in creating independence and confidence for their handlers. 💙🦮 VD: Four guide dogs in training sit outside on green grass in front of trees. Each clip features one pup at a time. They each wear white bandanas, and their names are printed in tactile braille. In order is: A black lab named Hop. A yellow lab named Taki. A black lab named Rimes. A yellow lab named Lion. #worldbrailleday #inclusion #braille #guidedogfoundation #guidedog #doglover #cutedogs
