Why do we hot fit horse shoes? Hot fitting is not neccessarily required to shoe horses, but we find it’s a very helpful tool to use! Hot fitting has a couple benefits in particular. - Hot fitting allows us to see how the shoe fits the foot, and shows how a shoe may need adjusted to better fit the hoof. - Hot fitting allows the shoe and hoof to conform together and achieve better balance! We prefer to clip many shoes, particularly on the hind to avoid shoe movement, and burning clips on helps the shoe to stay in place and avoid shifting or twisting! - Hot fitting a shoe can save time and effort when fitting a shoe to the hoof than cold fitting, which takes long to shape a shoe! That keeps us moving more efficiently and effectively! There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to fitting a shoe hot or cold, and each has its time and place.
