It’s a hard pass for me me when it comes to edible reinforcers 🙅♀️ Here’s why: ➡️ Food is a right not a privilege ➡️ It creates a distorted relationship with food ➡️ Reward systems are not sustainable ➡️ They are not always easily accessible ➡️ Focuses heavily on compliance ➡️ Is not an intrinsic motivator Truly I could go on and on but I’ll stop there. When I ask people why they use edible reinforced nine times out of ten they say it’s to get the student to listen or manage a behavior. There are SOOOOOOOOO many other ways to achieve that!!!
