One of the most eye-opening things I ever learned about the body was this connection. When I started seeing people get their top permanent retainers off and their neck pain instantly dissolve in many cases, I was blown away. Getting a top retainer is a very common strategy post-braces removal because it holds the teeth in place and forces them not to revert back to their previous malignant. But here’s what no one asks - why do the teeth want to move back to where they were pre-braces? Teeth grow straight down, so if they’re not growing straight down and there’s crowding/poor alignment, that’s happening for a reason. Probably because you have: - A top and bottom jaw that are misaligned - An upper or lower jaw that isn’t developed enough - An uneven/asymmetrical jaw And so many more potential considerations. The unfortunate reality is that most dentists just care about straightening your teeth, not why your teeth aren’t straight in the first place. These permanent retainers are basically gripping your upper jaw together, desperately holding everything together. And that locks up structures, bones, and joints around it. Down the chain too. I want to finish by saying this isn’t me trying to step out of my lane - this is essentially me regurgitating what I’ve learned and observed from high level dentists (such as @alamposturaldds) and myofunctional therapists (such as @integrative_myo) who really know their stuff. If you think you may benefit from getting your permanent retainer off, it’s not as simple just pulling the trigger on it. You need to speak with someone who understands cranial bone and jaw movement/alignment in context with the rest of the body, not just any dentist who is primarily concerned with “straightening teeth”. —— #dentistry #teeth #tmd #tmj #cosmeticdentist #braces #jawpain #neckpain

Releasing your masseter can help open up and loosen the jaw and TMJ. This is beneficial for those of you working to improve pain or tension in the face/jaw, trying to improve jaw range of motion, recovering TMJD, the list goes on. This one is an amazing release and super beneficial. Give it a try and let me know what you’d like to see next in the comments below! #jawpain #facemassage #chronicpain #masseter #tmj #tmjd #injury

Do you experience fullness in the ear? Maybe it feels like it’s clogged or even hurts sometimes but the ENT says nothing’s wrong with it? Well, the jaw and neck are also culprits of ear issues. The deep neck flexor, also known as as longus colli has been shown to produce ear fullness. This muscle specifically acts on the positioning of the neck which can dictate jaw positioning. And the jaw, butts right up against the ear, making it one big loop. In this video, I demonstrate a simple stretch you can do to get relief now. Keep in mind that eustation tube problems or TMJ problems can also feel like an earache, further making it necessary to rule out or in the muscle muscles of the jaw. Another very important part of the process is seeing an ENT or audiologist to rule out actual ear dysfunction. #earache #tmj #jawpain #tmd #ent #dentist #massagetherapy #tinnitus #hearing
Click the link in my bio for my signature process to fix Ear or Jaw symptoms! Do you experience fullness in the ear? Is your jaw stiff? Do you have trouble opening all the way? Maybe when you yawn or attempt to eat a large piece of food you can’t quite open wide or it really hurts when you do? Well, most people automatically assume it’s the muscle and therefore they need to massage it. But very very commonly when there is stiffness, it’s a joint issue NOT a muscle issue. A muscle issue will feel achy and painful and like there’s an uncomfortable light stretch occurring when moving but rarely does it result an actual stiffness or limited motion. Therefore, if your solution to jaw stiffness is massaging the muscle, you’ll be in a cycle of temporary relief and regression back to stifness. In this video, I demonstrate to strategies that can be completed to start mobilizing the joint capsule of the TMJ itself to start actually relieving the root cause of stiffness. #tmj #tmd #tmjdisorder #tmjtreatment #jawpain #dentist #dentistry #neurologist
Do you experience fullness in the ear? Maybe it feels like it’s clogged or even hurts sometimes but the ENT says nothing’s wrong with it? Well, the jaw is a very common culprit of ear issues. And specifically when it comes to a clogged fullness, feeling the medial pterygoid muscle can contribute to it. You see when the medial pterygoid has spasms in it it does not let the tensor veli palatini do its job which allows eustachian tube to dilate which relieves inner ear and sinus pressure. In this video, I demonstrate a simple release you can do to get relief now. Keep in mind other symptoms such as an ear ache that feels literally exactly like an earache and even tonight as can be causing to jaw or TMJ also. If you’re starting to wonder if your ear issues are actually enjoy issue…. #earache #tmj #jawpain #tmd #ent #dentist #massagetherapy #tinnitus #hearing
Click the link in my bio to find my Root Cause Assessment, to help figure out what’s causing your Head, Neck or Jaw problems. Do you clench or grind your teeth? Or if you’re not positive that you do, here would be some other signs…. Jaw, pain, side of head, headaches, temple, pain, sore teeth, ringing in the ears or neck pain. We also see dizziness and brain fog in chronic clench or grinders. Heres what you can do about it. First of all, the positioning of our teeth and jaw can increase or decrease the likelihood that we grind which is why the resting jaw posture is so important. Another important thing to consider is ways to breathe properly to down regulate or cool off our body and entire nervous system. Also featured in this video is a strategy before bed that I’ve been using with clients to allow their muscles of the head neck and jaw as well as entire system to relax, decreasing the tendency to clamp down at night. One other thing not mentioned in the video that is important to consider is to always be using a night guard to protect your teeth. Give the strategies a try and let me know how it goes! #dentist #dental #tmj #tmd #tmjdisorder #teethgrinding #dentistry #jawpain

Replying to @Laura 🦋 ❣️ unfortunately, tongue tie is not well-understood in the medical community. The tongue impacts so much of our health and wellbeing and we need adequate range of motion to function properly! #airwayhealth #myofunctionatherapy #oralfunction #sleepbetter #clenchingteeth #jawpainrelief #stopsnoring #tmjdisorders #tongueposture #jawpain

Thank you for listening to the voices in my head ! What’s the tea? Spikes glued on the back of your teeth actually make your tongue compensate more than keeping it in the correct position. The tamers don’t help the muscles in the tongue learn HOW to move and HOW to rest and HOW to activate in a functional way. (Swallowing, chewing, resting) They just get slapped on. ALSO the unlucky person that acquires the spikes / tamers don’t ever LEARN what their mouth and facial muscles are supposed to do- so eventually the orthodontic stability/retention will fail , leaving them to just go another round in a few years and the orthodontist pockets braces /Invisalign money over and over. So , if your tongue needs help- skip the tamers and come see us! #braces #oral #rehab #tonguethrust #tonguetamers #spikes #openbite #dentist #dental #orthodontist #breathing #nose #tongue #sleep #tired #jaw #jawpain

We don’t think about this, but we definitely need to! 💯 Your posture impacts your feet, hips, spine, shoulders & JAW. 💥 😬 Bad posture can negatively affect your jaw & potentially be a cause of your TMJ/TMD pain. Check that posture and send this to someone who needs to hear it! GRWM while I tell you about the new game-changing treatment modalities I now offer to my TMD patients! 🎉 😁 STAY TUNED FOR PART 2 to hear about my patients' success stories. For a long time I only treated TMD exactly the way my mentor taught me, because it was working so well with a more than 90% success rate. BUT, now I have discovered a second, truly incredible, treatment option! I have had the privilege of training with Dr. Ben Sutter & Dr. Robert Kerstein and my hope is that by utilizing this technology, I can help the other 10% of patients suffering from headaches, jaw pain, ear pain, tooth pain, jaw clicking, popping or locking, etc. 🙌 Drop your questions about T-Scan 10 & DTR in the comments. #tmjtreatment #tmjdisorder #tmjpain #jawpainrelief #jawpainheadaches #jawpain #tmjd #teethgrinding #tempromandipularjointdisfunction #dentistsoftiktok #tmjtok
