Who installs cap over corners? This is very common in the PNW because it works. We've pulled corners off on old buildings to remodel, and you can see the orginal layout and the siding looks brand new behind the corners. One reason we do this, is that besides protection, its a "no caulk" detail. This means that there is no maintenance required for the owner. Other advantages for us include labor savings (on the sealant side, as well as installation), and we maintain airflow behind the siding. .
