February 20th is National No Politics Day! It might be that Presidents Day was a few days ago and that a new person moved into the Oval Office a month ago but try not to get too political today. It is hard to avoid talking politics though! Instead of printing one of our many political engravings, we have turn to the ones that are political adjacent instead. For today, Jared letterpress printed a couple electrotypes (copy of a woodcut) of California’s State Capitol building in the 1890s. These were found in a box of unmounted copper and lead alloy electrotypes and this is likely one of the first times that these were ever printed since Winter made them 130 years ago. The Capitol is just over a mile away from the Sacramento History Museum. This was printed with pink rubber base ink using our Washington hand press.
