Just an update- watching the fires around me, packed and ready to go with all of the animals in tow. I took a moment to check out a shelter in the area and i’m just so thrilled to see that The Red Cross is now accepting animals and their humans together in their shelters!! If you, like so many others and those in my life that have had to flee their homes and memories, my whole heart is with you as we in Los Angeles band together. It’s an indescribable feeling on one hand, the looming anxiety and on the other, the incredible generosity I’ve seen over and over again. Today, our shelter staff traveled back up to Pasadena Humane to bring back 28 dogs and 1 kitten to help them free up shelter space as they respond to an influx of animals displaced by the devastating #EatonFire. This follows the 11 dogs our staff transported to our Oceanside Campus just yesterday evening. All the pets transported were already available for adoption in Pasadena and will soon be ready to find loving homes through San Diego Humane Society!If you'd like to help, please consider adopting or fostering a shelter pet. On Day 4 of responding to the #EatonFire, our Emergency Response Team (ERT) answered 27 calls to assist animals in need. One of those calls involved a sweet pig whose pen was destroyed in the fire, leaving the property unsecured. With no safe place to shelter, our team acted quickly to relocate the pig to safety. In Altadena, they installed a battery with solar panels to power pond pumps, helping aerate the water and keep a group of koi fish safe while their owners remain evacuated. The team also distributed pet food to residents behind fire lines, providing essential supplies to animals affected by the disaster. They also visited a property to care for chickens that survived the fire, providing fresh water and food until their owners could return. Our team and businesses are safe. We are all extremely lucky to not been affected by the wildfires in Southern California. We will be returning to our store this weekend and we will be back in office on Monday. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while we prioritized our team’s safety under these devastating circumstances. We will be collecting new clothing from our warehouse to bring to our Vixen storefront in Burbank from both Vixen and @La Femme en Noir to have available for those affected by the wildfires starting this coming Wednesday. If you have any new clothing or like new clean clothing you would like to drop off to contribute to those in need we will be accepting donations. Our Emergency Response Team (ERT) was deployed on Friday to assist Pasadena Humane in their efforts to support animals impacted by the devastating fires. Together, along with other animal welfare organizations who are on-site to help, they’ve been working tirelessly to canvass affected areas, rescue animals unable to evacuate with their families and provide food and care to pets in need. On Sunday, our ERT responded to 37 calls, including a welfare check for two cats, Sage and Pippa, separated from their family during the evacuation. We’re happy to share that these beloved cats have been safely reunited with their family! The team also rescued koi fish and ensured that approximately 75 pigeons at an evacuated property received food and water.
