This is my experience, as an #autistic, #ADHD person with a PDA profile. (pathological demand avoidance, or persistent drive for autonomy)💚 PDA is not listed as a separate diagnosis in the DSM-5, but it is being utilized by doctors who may use the term, "PDA profile" to describe the pattern of behaviors, often in autistic people. I am doing 'self-led learning' for my last years of school.😊❤️ Fortunately, this is legal here under a homeschool umbrella. Public school, and hybrid homeschool (with public classes) were both an absolute nightmare for me. 😬 (we now know that I have 'PDA', (pathological demand avoidance or persistent drive for autonomy) and this made school incredibly difficult for me. 🤷🏻 I do not blame the teachers, they did not know how to handle someone with my issues. ❤️ I have written poetry about how awful school was for me.😞💔 Since I have been allowed to do things on my own, everything has changed for the better! ❤️ Doctors and my family both agree that is the best thing for me.
