PKU TEST- If you didn’t know, my daughter Scarlett has a genetic disease called phenylketonuria or PKU. Basically we monitor everything she eats and her diet is considered a low protein diet. She is aloud to have 3 grams a day so she is usually eating fruits or vegetables. Her main source of food is her prescription formula. If she doesn’t follow her strict diet it can cause brain damage and pretty much everything else you can think of. I could go on forever but the point of this post is because Rome was a surprise, we had to wait until birth to find out if he had pku as well. It’s been a huge blessing to say he does not have PKU but it has been a mix of feelings for Scarlett, understandably. She is glad he doesn’t have it because she hates it so much but she wouldn’t mind having someone who can relate with her. It’s a lot for a small child to grow up with but she is doing amazing. I guess I just wanted to thank you all for your concern and kind messages as we’ve waited for the results from the doctor.
