honestly the hardest part of motherhood without a doubt 🥹 I didn’t think I’d break , but girl I totally did. I couldn’t believe how scary this moment was.. all I knew was “I came into this hospital with him and best believe we’re coming out together” that thought alone UGH! 🥹😪 Thankful for my prayer warriors. My whole family and Oscar’s were up waiting for us.. God is so good! (Btw this was a week ago, and baby boy is recovering & so is his sister (we all got sick after Disney). How my 3 month old responded to getting RSV from his sissy. If you ever think something is wrong. Take the chance and LISTEN to your gut. The first time we went to the ER they told me oh he’ll be fine. And sent us home. The next day it was so much worse. I ended up bringing him back and the ER nurses and triage Dr said he looked fine. I told them I was concerned for his breathing and being dehydrated because he throws up if he nurses. They didn’t listen to me and told me to nurse him in the lobby. So I do I ended up nursing him he was on maybe 5 minutes because he started coughing and next thing I know he projectile vomits all over me. I tell the nurse he needs to be seen soon and she basically told me when it’s his turn it’ll be his turn no special asks? I was like okay weird considering my 3 month old has a virus that is deadly??? So we eventually get called into the triage room AGAIN. Aka fast track. They tell me to nurse him to make sure he’s not dehydrated. I tell them AGAIN. He’s going to through up if he nurses or he just won’t nurse and will just fall asleep. They don’t care. So I feed him and he throws up again. And I tell them I want another opinion. They tell me they wanna do an IV. Cool yay now just get us into a room. We stay in triage for maybe 25 mins and they come and get us for a ER room. We go in and the main Dr comes in and instantly he says the babies breathing isn’t supposed to be like that at all. The doctor looked at me and said I’m going to admit you guys that way he can get the care he needs. Many people (including me before this happened) don’t know how the common cold can affect newborns, so I’m posting to raise awareness. My little guy had trouble breathing with RSV / Rhinovirus and it was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to see. He had coughing episodes where he couldn’t catch his breath, he turned blue, he had chest retractions, nasal flaring and was grunting with each breath. He was able to maintain good oxygen, but I know other babies don’t come out of this and it breaks my heart. I know some germs are unavoidable but do what you can to stock the spread!!
