We’ve had some great questions about how we attach the cross panels on our DIY PVC dome hoophouses, so we put together a quick video to show you exactly how we did it! To add extra support for the structure and cover, we used PVC piping as cross panels. It’s super simple: ✔️ When placing the arch, we added three T-connectors on each side. ✔️ We measured to ensure they were at the same height, then secured them in place with screws to prevent shifting. ✔️ For the center connection, we found that using a zip-tie worked best—no worries about screws rubbing against the cover! Check out the video to see this in action! 🎥👇

💨 We always get tons of questions about how well our DIY PVC hoophouses handle the wind—so here’s proof! This was recorded on an extremely windy day here in central Oklahoma, and you can even hear the wind howling! 🌬️ Despite the gusts, our hoophouses are holding strong. We even have them propped open for venting because the sun was shining, and it was actually pretty warm! ☀️🌱

We’ve been getting a lot of questions about the dimensions of our wooden raised beds and DIY PVC dome hoophouses—so here’s the breakdown! ✅ Our raised beds are 4x8 feet with 3 feet of space between them for easy access. ✅ We use 8-foot PVC pipes arched over the beds to create our DIY PVC dome hoophouses. These hoophouses help extend our growing season by protecting plants from frost in the fall and early spring. Plus, in the warmer months, we swap out the plastic for insect netting to keep pests away! 🛑🐛

We get a lot of questions about how we attach plastic sheeting or insect netting to our PVC dome hoop houses, so we put together this quick video to show how we do it! It’s a simple method—just lay the covering over the frame, place a thin board over the edge, and screw it in to hold everything securely. When it’s time to switch from plastic to insect netting in the spring, we just unscrew the board, swap out the material, and screw it back in. Easy and effective! Watch the video to see it in action!

We get a lot of questions about the plastic sheeting we use for our DIY PVC hoophouses, so we’re showing exactly what we use in this video! It’s just standard 6 mil plastic sheeting—the kind you can find in the paint section of most big-box hardware stores. There are different thickness options, but this one works great for us in zone 7, keeping our plants warm when temps drop below freezing. ❄️🌱 If you’re looking for an easy way to protect your crops through winter, check out our DIY PVC hoophouse setup! Have you tried using plastic sheeting in your garden to help protect your plants?
