#update on Brady! Brady the
#Husky had been living on the streets of Cleveland, TX for several weeks outside of a local Dollar Store. With no shelter in the area, shoppers did what they could for him by bringing him bowls of food and water and even a blanket to help him stay warm. However, tragedy struck when Brady was hit by a speeding car, leaving him with crippling injuries. The driver didn't bother to stop, so Brady was forced to drag his broken body back to the only home he knew: the Dollar Store. Thankfully, his new friends found him right away. Rescuers were contacted right away, and Brady was rushed to the hospital. He had a dislocated hip and a severely swollen leg, though no breaks were detected in his limbs. The real shock came when we learned that Brady’s SPINE was fractured. As if that weren’t enough, Brady is also suffering from advanced Heartworm disease, Hookworms, and Whipworms, putting strain on his heart, lungs, and GI system. Brady is estimated to be around four years old, but his body has been aged by hardship. His broken, tartar-coated teeth indicate he likely ate rocks and debris just to survive. A costly CT scan was necessary to determine the extent of his spinal injury and what steps, if any, could be taken to restore his mobility. However, his immense parasite load created major complications for any prospect of surgery. Thankfully, Brady has been able to undergo one operation so far! A $5,300 procedure was performed to repair some of the damage to his spine, and he is now in recovery. He's still not able to stand, but he has sensation in his hindquarters, which is an encouraging sign! He will soon undergo another costly surgery to repair his damaged leg, followed by 6-8 weeks of rehab. Your support has been invaluable to Brady during this phase of his recovery, and we will need all the help we can get as his healing continues. Thank you to everyone who has contributed thus far. We will continue to provide updates on his progress when we can! LINK IN BIO - Donate 📍Nederland, TX - Hoardin' Huskies (@Hoardin Huskies Rescue)
