Key’s to Unlock Other Fighting Systems. • Simple • Complex • Easy • Hard Jeet Kune Do is simple and easy… but only after you’ve been through the complex and hard. What do I mean by this? Well, you first of all have to enter the world of the complex even to learn a single technique like “the straight lead punch”. There is ENORMOUS complexity in the mastery of this one technique. From the use of the ankle and hip, to the way to create a final “snap” the “straight lead” requires a deep dive into the world of complexity and much hard work… from this hard work the skill moves from the conscious to the unconscious mind. So from the initial entry into the world of the complex, and with plenty of hard work, then the mastery of technique allows the punch to become both simple and easy. But always remember the simple and easy are created and developed from the complex and the hard… they work synergistically. The end result is Bruce’s Lee’s famous saying: “I do not hit, it hits all by itself”. #MASTERSTUDENT #wingchun #boxing #wrestling #submissions #martialarts #kungfu
The First a quote from Bruce on JKD - “Only one of 10,000 can handle it.” Ted Wong asked Bruce what he meant in that quote. Bruce said that most people lack the discipline to learn the simple techniques found in JKD. Question? what are those simple techniques? Bruce said the average martial arts student is more confident in learning stances, punches, and set patterns of attack and defense. But when it comes time to use this in a real fight, they are defeated by their own "classical mess". Most will stay quiet on this video because they like the image of what should work Vs what one can actually do themselves. The philosophy, which derives from boxing and fencing, is simple: Stay far enough out of reach to prevent your foe from touching you with a punch or kick--and from being able to lean and touch you. If he wants to make contact, he'll have to take a step. Obviously, you'll have to do the same to reach him, but because you're trained to widen or close the gap, it's easier for you. In sparring you face your partner and start "fighting". Not "real fighting", but a kind of "play fighting" where the rules of engagement are sufficient to protect you both from real injury, while leaving sufficient physical stress to "test your skill" It gives you a chance to apply some of your skills in a dynamic environment. Even if sparring isn't "real fighting" it gives you a test environment that has at least some level of unpredictability and lets individuals experiment with their techniques, discover what works for them, what doesn’t, and what to do about it. #MASTERSTUDENT #wingchun #boxing #wrestling #submissions #martialarts #kungfu

“Do Your Own Research” This means commitment to examining, testing, and experimenting in search of truth for yourself. This truth you know to be true not because someone wrote it or taught it, but because you tested it for yourself. Jeet Kune Do is centered on the writings and teachings of Bruce Lee. Not to be blindly followed, but experimented with and tested for your own discovery. Just a name... Concepts vs Original Perhaps prophetically, Bruce wrote, “If people say Jeet Kune Do is different from ‘this’ or from ‘that,’ then let the name of Jeet Kune Do be wiped out, for that is what it is, just a name. Please don’t fuss over it.” (Tao of Jeet Kune Do. Lee. 1975.) Lastly, Bruce Lee never intended for any of his students or followers to become stagnant only studying what he laid out as the foundation, his philosophy, his concepts, and his techniques. No, Jeet Kune Do was intended to be formed and shaped to the specific individual. So, self-liberation is about personalizing the art of Jeet Kune Do to yourself and applying it both to your life and to combat. It is about exploring, researching, studying and perfecting yourself as an individual and helping others do the same. #Godsplan #spiritualwarfare #MASTERSTUDENT #wingchun #boxing #wrestling #submissions #martialarts #kungfu
