To all the single women out there, and maybe to myself as much as anyone else… I’m sitting here, writing this because I need to remind myself of something that’s so easy to forget in the chaos of life: take care of you! Over the past week and a half, I've had two emergency vet visits. And on top of that, life’s usual stressors—finances, work, the endless to-do list have all piled up at once. It’s been overwhelming, and honestly, some days it feels like it’s all too much. But through it all, I’ve realized something: I’ve always been the one to take care of me. Don’t get me wrong, people do kind things for me ALl THE TIME! When I say I’m always taking care of myself (and others emotions), I mean always. Even in relationships, I’ve been the one to take care of my own mental health, my physical health, the homes, the animals. I’ve done it all, often with no one to turn to for help. And let me tell you—it’s not easy. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: Be gentle on yourself. Last night, I fell asleep on the couch with two of my dogs, one of whom is hooked up to a breathing machine. I’m not sharing this to get sympathy. I just needed to share that sometimes—just sometimes—it would be nice for someone to do something for me. We’re all taught to be strong, to be self-sufficient, to keep pushing. But let’s be real: there’s no shame in asking for help when you need it. If you’re the one who’s always there for everyone else—whether it’s being the main breadwinner, cooking meals, raising children, caring for pets, keeping the house running—please, for the love of Jesus, don’t forget to love yourself! Because here’s the truth: if you don’t take care of YOU, you won’t be able to take care of anyone else. And that’s the hardest thing to remember sometimes. But it’s true. So to the women who feel like they’re holding the weight of the world on their shoulders… you’re not alone. And it’s okay to need a break, to ask for help, to say "I’m tired." Your heart matters.
