The 18” railing is assembled and I’ve started to apply the finish. Once it’s completely finished I’ll post more of it. Between the peened over tenons and the rivets it’s covered with character that really shows that it’s 100% hand made. I will say I’m extremely lucky to have dad around to help me hold them while I set everything.

A little bit of what when on the last week. Last Saturday: Went and picked up a trailer from one of my buddy’s to use to haul the railings. Last Sunday: drilled a lot of holes until the drill press took a shit. Also last Sunday: Got the 18” temporarily assembled and ready for feet and chamfers. Monday: I peened the tenon for the 6” railing and prepared it for finishing. Also Monday: took a picture of finished head on 6” Wednesday: Applied the patina to the 6” rail Today: laid out the holes in the handrail by paint method, filing the handrail to get the sharp corners off, temporarily assembling to make sure everythign is right and ready for final assembly tomorrow. The days in between were full of driling more holes, filing, adjusting, cleaning, chamfering, welding, blending, and more.
