walkability hashtag performance

#Walkability promotes safe, accessible environments for pedestrians, encouraging sustainable urban design. It enhances community interaction, reduces traffic, boosts local economies, improves health, and fosters enjoyable living spaces for all ages.
Pedestrian mobility 👩🏿‍🦽👩🏽‍🦼🧑🏾‍🦯🚶‍♀️🚏 is legitimate transportation and is deserving of just as much (if not more!) funding, planning staff, engineering focus (+) as car transportation. It should not be up to the whims of private development. Grateful for Ana Lucaci of @Made2Walk Info for her story, friendship & good work. State active transportation staff, regional greenway staff, public health professionals, local advocates & more were present for the walk. #PedestrianDignity #MobilityJustice #Walkability #PedestrianSafety #Denver #UrbanPlanning #PublicHealth #ClimateAction
Every. Word. Pedestrian mobility is legitimate transportation 👩🏿‍🦽👩🏽‍🦼🧑🏾‍🦯🚶‍♀️🚏. Our transportation systems (+ elected leadership) privatize the walking/rolling experience ➡️ resulting in a changing built environment every half block + zero/very little maintenance + not treated as a connected network). This makes moving on-foot or on a wheelchair terribly unsafe, inaccessible, uncomfortable, and disconnected. This is accepted (or ignored/unknown) across state departments, city agencies, and much of the driving public. All in a time where are planet 🌎🔥 continues to heat up - aching for our attention. Be a part of DE-centering single occupant car driving on everyday roads and corridors. 🎙️ Share this post. Advocate for changes near you. Replace car trips (if you’re a driver) to feel what it’s actually like. For all who can’t drive. For all who choose not to drive. For all who would drive less - walking/rolling for health, connection, and climate. : 📸 @Angie schmitt of 3MPH Planning #PedestrianDignity #MobilityJustice #Walkability #Accessibility #PublicHealth #ClimateAction

We have so much work to do. Keep iterating. Keep trying. Come with me over on Substack (see 🔗🌳). Footage taken this morning in freezing #Denver temps. @Substack #PedestrianDignity #MobilityJustice #Walkability #PublicHealth #ClimateAction #Accessibility #Transit #BusStop #ClimateAction
When new infrastructure STILL centers car drivers ON a bus route with acres of mixed income/mixed use housing. ALSO ➡️ I’ve started a Substack to continue getting as creative as I can to bring more awareness to everyday lived experience for all who walk, use wheelchairs & take transit. I’ll be sharing photo/video stories, live learning sessions, resources, and more. 🎙️ DE-center single-occupant car driving - for nondrivers, for health, for the planet. #PedestrianDignity #MobilityJustice #Walkability #Accessibility #PublicHealth #Pedestrian cc @Substack

Today’s ETOD is … The K! The K will be a mixed-use development with office space, rotating retailers, a café, an innovation hub, and an event space, with the goal of fostering and supporting entrepreneurship in the community. It will be part of the Sankofa Wellness Village, a collaboration between area stakeholders and developers. They seek to revitalize the business corridor, providing residents the opportunity to own equity. The K will be located in West Garfield Park (28th Ward) at 4400 W Madison St. It will be within walking distance of the Pulaski Green Line station and will also be along the #20 Madison bus route. City funding, specifically the Chicago Recovery Plan grant, has helped to make this ETOD possible. Today’s ETOD is… The Ignatian Mission Center! This social service hub will enhance the social, mental, spiritual and civic wellbeing of the community. It will also serve as a transitional home for women and children escaping domestic violence. The church has had a food pantry since 1972 and joined the Greater Chicago Food Depository in 1985. After the closure of the church in 202, the pantry reopened in February 2023 and served more than 4,000 families by the end of that year. The Ignatian Mission Center will be located in Rogers Park (49th Ward) at 6559 N Glenwood Ave near the Loyola Red Line station. It will also be near the #147 Outer DuSable Lake Shore and #155 Devon bus routes. This ETOD was made possible in part by the City’s Chicago Recovery Plan grant.
