@westfallaustin reports The Kenneth fire started in the west hills area Thursday afternoon. It’s one of several major fires in the region. Fire authorities said a 10,000-acre fire in the Angeles National Forest and LA's San Gabriel Valley, including the communities of Altadena and La Cañada Flintridge, turned deadly as the firefight against the wind-driven blaze continued.In an update Thursday morning, Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone said that in addition to the fatalities, 1,000 structures were damaged, and several injuries have been reported. Four firefighters are injured, officials confirmed. Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said he expects the death toll to climb based on the devastating damage he’s observed, saying in some areas, "it looks like a bomb went off." Just before noon, officials said flames from the fire were advancing on Mount Wilson.On Wednesday, Pasadena Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Blanco, said at least five campuses were damaged in the fire. They include Eliot Arts Magnet, Franklin Elementary, which closed in 2020, Edison, Noyes, and Loma Alta.As of Thursday morning, the fire was officially at 10,600 acres with no containment as a crew of nearly 900 firefighters continued to battle the flames.
