Is it just me or does your kid wake up and just ask for snacks instead of breakfast?🫠 these blueberry oat breakfast cookies are free from refined sugars, sourdough (good on the gut), and sooo tasty! You can always sub blueberries for chocolate chips, nuts, or other fruit— I promise they’ll gobble them up! To make the dough: 3/4 cup butter, softened 1/3 cup Sourdough discard 3/4 cup maple syrup 2 eggs 1 tsp Vanilla I cup flour 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp Salt 1 tsp cinnamon 3 cups rolled oats 1/2 cup chopped pecans ½ cup frozen blueberries Bake @ 350 for 12-15 mins, till bottoms start to get golden. * Ferment in the fridge overnight for more health benefits. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for a week, or freeze for 3 months. You can also freeze the dough in cookie dough balls to grab and bake as needed. Just add a few extra mins to the bake time. Enjoy! #sourdough

This homemade chicken powder will be the perfect base for a shelf stable chicken bouillon powder, cream of chicken soup powder, maybe a chicken gravy mix?? The options are endless!! I love that it’s got CLEAN ingredients— just chicken and the seasonings I put on it when we grilled it. For pints: 1/2 cup cubed uncured ham 1/4 cup dry navy beans 1/4 cup chopped onion 1 minced garlic clove Seasonings of choice (I used salt, pepper and garlic powder) Broth to 1 inch headspace Pressure can for 75 mins For quarts: 1 cup chopped uncured ham 1/2 cup dry navy beans 1/4 cup chopped onion 2 cloves minced garlic Salt, pepper, garlic powder to taste Top off to 1 inch headspace with broth Pressure can for 90 mins Serve over cornbread, or just on its own as a yummy soup!

I’ve honestly found that all my kids want to do is do what I’m doing… so, I bring them along and give them basic tasks to help me with whatever I’m doing! The point of my homesteading journey is to not only teach myself these skills to take better care of my family, but to teach the next generation those same skills so they don’t become a lost art. Boys or girls— doesn’t matter. My goal is for each of them to leave the home as adults knowing how to cook, clean, garden, sew, preserve food, change a tire, fold laundry, figure out their finances, start a business, and so much more.
