#ACSMCertified highlights fitness professionals certified by the American College of Sports Medicine. It promotes expertise in exercise science, personal training, health coaching, and overall wellness, fostering a community of knowledgeable practitioners.
This afternoon I had the privilege to speak with physicians/fellows of the Sports, Exercise, & Rehabilitation Medicine (SERM) program from Ghana about stress testing and cardiac rehab! 🌍🫀🩺 Here's what this call entailed: • Shared my work experience in both cardiac/cardiopulmonary rehab and cardiac stress testing • Shared my lecture from The EP Network as an overview of all the different cardiac stress testing protocols which includes tidbits of my experience and knowledge • Discussed a general overview and expectations with traditional in-person cardiac rehab • Discussed my current role in virtual cardiac rehab with Kaiser Permanente and the differences between in-person cardiac rehab and asychnronous virtual cardiac rehab • Shared different devices and platforms our program utilizes with our cardiac patients • Shared resources from the @ACSM website including the ACSM's Guidelines book for Exercise Testing and Prescription since they were curious on what guidelines are followed in the United States, also mentioning about the standardization of being ACSM certitfied (ACSM-CEP or ACSM-EP) Truly an honor to be able to connect with other outstanding healthcare providers around the world and to share my knowledge and experience in clinical exercise physiology! Although our typical motto for patients is to stay active (following the recent @ACSM guidelines for exercise prescription) and eat a heart healthy Mediterranean diet, it is just as important to enjoy the holiday season with friends, family and loved ones! This may mean not achieving their exercise goals or maybe having 1 or 2 pieces of their favorite pie 🥧 but that is totally okay in moderation for this season!
