Atlanta is opening two subsidized grocery stores in food deserts in 2025 to help address food insecurity and make healthy food more accessible. Savi Provisions will open the two new grocers near Campbellton Plaza and Downtown by late 2025, supported by $8.1 million in funding from Invest Atlanta to support construction, inventory, equipment, and operating costs. These stores will offer fresh produce, meats, dairy, and essential items while accepting SNAP benefits, offering discounts, and partnering with local vendors. They will also host community programs like cooking demonstrations and nutrition workshops. An Additional $2.5 million investment has also been awarded to support: ✔️A Community Food Center by the Atlanta Community Food Bank. ✔️Revamping the Sweet Auburn Municipal Market. ✔️New grocery stores in the English Avenue and Edgewood neighborhoods. ✔️A market inside a currently-under-construction Affordable Housing Center Cheers to this development! There is nothing more important than fresh food. Let the people know what areas you would like to see fresh groceries! 📝: ajc.com, supermarketnews.com
