We went with a 26 gauge metal panel from @burrowspostframesupply on the roof and side walls. The color is called Textured Black and it’s gorgeous…not to shiny or dull… just the right amount of sheen. And it will really hold up to our weather and sunlight in Southeast Texas. And remember, when you’re ordering your metal panels for your own build project, pay attention to the gauge you’re being quoted. In general, we recommend at least a 26 gauge on the roof and 29 gauge on the side walls. The higher the gauge, the softer the metal. If you are in an area of the country that’s prone to heavy hail storms, a thicker roof panel is better. Most homeowner’s insurance will NOT cover cosmetic damage. This means that if you have a hail storm and it dents your roof panels, you could be on your own to fix. We think our post frame garage/shop Barndo from @burrowspostframesupply is coming along nicely. We decided to add this concrete skirting to our build project so that we can leave our trailer and tractor implements outside versus taking up valuable space inside. Later on, we will add a lean-to cover to help protect the trailer and implements. Heck, I think they’ll even be enough space for the buggy out there. Oliver is really loving that idea. During construction, we always find that specialty item that we want to include or want to add some additional space. Make sure you have money in your contingency budget for these little add-ons during your build.
