Let’s make Bolillos!! They’re so easy to make!! Ingredients: • 4 cups bread flour • 1 tablespoon instant yeast • 2 teaspoons sugar • 11/2 teaspoons salt • 2 tablespoons oil (vegetable or olive oil) • 11/2 cups warm water (about 105-110°F) ❤️ Easier shaping tip: Start with a ball of dough and gently flatten it into a small rectangle. Fold the top edge toward the center and press down gently. Then fold the bottom edge to the center. Then pinch the closed crease. Then Roll the dough gently on the counter to form an oval shape. Steam bath: Add a pot of hot water on the bottom rack in the oven while the bread bakes Instructions: • In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy. This indicates the yeast is activated. (If no foam appears, discard and try again with new yeast and properly warmed water.) once activated add the oil. • Add the bread flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Using the dough, mix on low speed until the ingredients are combined. • Increase the speed to medium and knead for 8-10 minutes. The dough should be soft, slightly sticky, and elastic. • Lightly coat the dough with oil and place it back in the bowl. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap. Let the dough rise in a warm area for 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size. •Once the dough has risen, punch it down gently and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Shape each piece into an oval or torpedo shape, close the ends • Place the dough on a baking sheet dusted with flour. Cover with a towel and let them rest for 10-15 minutes to rise slightly. • Preheat your oven to 425°F • Using a sharp knife or razor blade, score a line lengthwise down the center of each bolillo. • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the bolillos are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
