This beautiful lace doily was mixed in a bag of random material I got from a thrift store. To whoever made this, (you won’t see this but) thank you for your talent and co-creating this with me. I used fabric stiffener and got the doily soaked and went to work pulling it so it will dry and harden round and flat. I took wooden skewers and soaked them in water, bent and tied them around the hula hoop to dry. My purpose with the wooden skewers is to create the base of the frame. I have had the hula hoops for years and I don’t want to buy anymore, plastics take 20-1000 years to break down in landfills. I am becoming more conscious in my making and I’m experimenting with what works for me and the planet. I am learning.
