This is definitely my absolute favorite way to enjoy fresh cooked warm garbanzo beans and here’s how you can make it. Ingredients: 3 cups cooked garbanzo beans 1/2 tsp cumin 1 clove of garlic finely grated. The juice of 1 lemon 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes 1 tsp salt For the green sauce: 1 clove of garlic 1/4 small sweet onion 1/4 sweet green bell pepper 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes 4 tbsp fresh lemon juice 1 tbsp fresh parsley Preparation: The best way to get soft tender beans is to soak overnight in hot water and add 1 tsp of baking soda. The next day, rinse well, add water to cover the beans and add 1 tsp of baking soda to the pot. Cook until soft, it will take 30 minutes. Add the warm garbanzo beans to a bowl, add some of the cooking water if too dry. Season with salt, cumin, red pepper flakes, garlic, the juice of 1 lemon, 2 tbsp *green sauce . Smash the beans with a fork, should be very soft. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Garnish with more green sauce, parsley and green onions. Drizzle olive oil and serve with warm pita bread. *simply add all the green sauce ingredients in the food processor and pulse the whole thing to get a nice smooth sauce for the beans. . . .
