If I were new to gardening this year here are 3 veggies I would grow to use for fresh eating and preserving 🫙 🌱 Basil - it’s a great herb to have on hand for recipes and I would preserve it into pesto that I can store in my freezer. (Could also just do Basil cubes!!) 🫛Green beans - a great side dish when used fresh and when canned up. No need to buy from the store. They are easy to can and a great beginner option for pressure canning. 🍅 Tomatoes -so many ways to use fresh eating and a simple preservation method is to can them whole or make into a sauce that you can use all winter long. Plus, you’ll never have to buy tomato sauce again 🥫 Remember, start small and work towards growing and preserving lots of food! These are 3 great options to start with. Ps - these are all warm weather crops so plan to grow after your last frost for best results 🫶 Can you tell me what veggies you plan to grow this year for fresh eating and preserving?!👇🏼 . . . #gardening #growyourownfood #gardenprep #homesteader #newgardener #gardener #growfood #growagarden #selfsufficient #planningthegardem #planmygarden
Before garden season begins I would encourage you to take some time to plan Figure out your veggies you want to grow Map your space out Plan for your Spring, Summer and Fall crops Test your soil before amending and planting Know your frost dates to avoid planting to early or to late Having a plan can really make or break your garden 🌱 If you’d like more help with this we have our planning masterclass or our planning guide available to help you Go from being stressed and overwhelmed about gardening season to plan and prepared and ready to grow food! Comment “GARDENPLAN” to grab the class ($37) or guide ($15) . . . #gardening #growyourownfood #gardenprep #homesteader #newgardener #gardener #growfood #growagarden #selfsufficient #planningthegardem #planmygarden
And that’s not even all of it… What’s even better is that you can do all of these things too!! Which items do you not buy at the grocery store or which items would you like to grow/preserve at home??! If I were getting started I would pick 2-3 things to work on this season and aim for making those changes this year. Starting small is key to sustainability 🔥 Share in the comments 🫶 . . . #gardening #growyourownfood #gardenprep #homesteader #newgardener #gardener #growfood #growagarden #selfsufficient #planningthegardem #planmygarden
Our Garden Planning Masterclass is now open for registration! We’re hosting the class via ZOOM on January 17th at 12pm PST. Replay will be available for those unable to attend live! We created this class to really help gardeners get their garden planned. But not just for Spring but for the rest of their gardening life. See, when you learn how to plan your garden in a way that is successful and sustainable…you don’t have to plan it again! The goal is to plan it once and mimic it every single year. Do you think that we actually sit down and plan the garden space every season? We don’t! We know what we plant together and we know it works so we don’t change it up! (We do implement crop rotation so we move the garden around but the bed layout is the same year after year!) And that’s what our goal is with this class. To get your garden planned out for the season and yearly! If you’d like to join us we’re going to have so much fun hanging out and planning our spaces! You’ll leave with great information that you can then apply right then and there. Then once gardening season comes around, you’ll be ready to plant. We can’t wait! Registration closes at the end of the week. See you inside?!
