🌸 Calla Lily Valley is just starting to bloom and will be in full bloom in a week or two! Great for a Big Sur Highway 1 road trip!    Trail starts here and takes about 10 minutes:  https://maps.app.goo.gl/8D8tFHA4J87t7dba7    You can also search for ‘Calla Lily Valley’ on Google Maps and look for the ‘Garrapata Trail’ just north of Doud Creek    It can be a little muddy down by the flowers - I was fine with sneakers though.      #visitcalifornia #bigsur #hwy1 #roadtrip #springflowers #carmel

Here is the L!nk - https://urlgeni.us/amzn/Newtulippic The MOST realistic tulips you’ve ever seen! Period. Beautiful and unique glass vase and rattan tray also linked for you! 10 million people. That’s a lot of humans. 😂 As beautiful as the daffodil field was last year, it SHOULD be even better this year because daffodils naturally multiply from year to year. Big thanks to @Power Planter! We could have never planted 5000 daffodil bulbs to look natural without this amazing garden auger! #wildflowerfield #wildflower #daffodils #bulbs #plantingbulbs #gardentools #gardenauger #homeandgarden #farmhouse #flowergardening #plantingflowers #garden #flowerbulbs #springbulbs #gardenhacks #betterhomesandgardens #springflowers
I am VERY picky when it comes to artificial flowers. If they are in reaching distance they need to be “real touch” and silicone feeling.🤌🏼 I LOVE these from Amazon. The tulips could not be more realistic! I love how some are blooming and others are still closed! Growth happens pretty fast in the spring. Before you know it, everything is leafed out and getting ready to bloom. If you live in an area where deer treat your garden more like a snack bar than the botanical paradise you’ve worked so hard to create, now is the time to protect your tulips! It’s a huge mistake to wait if your plants are just leafing out or breaking ground if you garden in an area with high deer pressure. 🌷

In my zone 6b garden, we get herds of deer on our property. And while some of our gardens are fenced in, most are not. So if I want to grow tulips, I’ve got to protect them.🌷

One of the ways I protect them is by using deer repellent. They are very effective if you use them aggressively, consistently, and often, depending on the severity of the issue in your garden. Because growth happens really FAST in spring, it’s important to begin spraying repellent as soon as your tulips break ground and follow up almost weekly until the plant is fully leafed out and blooms.🌷

The reason we need to apply the repellent so aggressively in the beginning is to teach deer they don’t want to snack in your garden. Deer are creatures of habit - they follow the same path so if they find something they love in your garden, they’ll keep coming back! So the idea is to make your plants so unpalatable that they will not love it and choose a different path. 🌷

It’s important to note that no method is foolproof because if deer are hungry enough they will eat anything, but I’ve found great success using certain repellents in addition to choosing deer resistant flowers. And you know me, I’ve got flower gardens all over my landscape. Save and share this with a friend who loves to grow flowers. Follow for more! 🌷 #flowergardening #flowergardenideas #gardentips #gardeningtips #gardeningtiktok #gardening #gardeningforbeginners #gardentiktok #cottagegarden #cottagegardenstyle #tulips #springflowers #springblooms

Have you ever tried to grow ranunculus? 🌸 I’m not a flower farmer or a botanist or an expert. I’m just an average home flower gardener. See my highlights in my profile for all the details on how I’m trying to grow ranunculus again this year. If I can do it, so can you!  Ranunculus are breathtaking. Not enough words to describe how stunning they are in person. I always say, “The most beautiful flower in the world is the one you grow yourself.”  Grow them with me! The process is fun all by itself. What questions do you have? #ranunculus #flowergardening #plantingflowers #flowers #homegardener #beginnergardener #springflowers #happiness #flowersmakemehappy #homeandgarden
I was rushed to shop because everyone was starving & ready to have dinner. I failed to calculate the price before paying so I almost fainted when I saw the total. At this point there was a long line. I wasn’t going to embarrass myself & return items so I asked when @hobbylobby was having a sale. They said Monday so I’m taking everything back. Returning some items & getting my discount! 🤪 . . . . . #comédia #abuela #cubanosenmiami #hobbylobbyfinds #springflowers🌸 #springflowers #floreslindas @marioramilcomedy @carnota_ @onlyindade @Cubanos de TikTok
More tips below ⬇️⬇️⬇️ This is the first time I’m trying this so I’m eager to see if it will work! 🥳 Do you think it will? 😬 🌸 You can use scissors ✂️ instead of a knife to cut your milk jug if my gargantuan knife is too much for you! 🌸 If your area is dry, my friend @illustratorsgarden says to leave the lid on until the seeds germinate. I’m going to try with the lid off this time and see what happens. 🌸 Water gently if it doesn’t rain/snow or if you decide to keep the lid on. 🌸There are lots of different ways to do this! Leave your suggestions in the comments! Stay posted to see if it works!! 👏👏👏 #milkjuggreenhouse #milkjugseedstarting #seedstarting #wintersowing #springflowers #snapdragons #flowergardening #plantingseeds #growingflowers #wintergardening #minigreenhouse #beginnergardener

Any tips? 🙋‍♀️ If you’ve been following (have you?), you know this has been a hilarious journey to get me this far in my curling iron skills. 😂 Obviously, my goal is not perfection! 🤩 But I want to be able to curl my hair by February 17 because I’ve been invited on a local daytime, lifestyle and entertainment tv show. 🥳 I have a four minute slot to talk about spring flowers. 🌸 Do you think I’m going to be able to do it well enough by then to curl it myself for the show? 😳 Any tips for me? Regardless, don’t you think it’s fun to try new things? 👏 Even if I’m not very good at it, I always like the excitement of new. I always say, “Other people can do it better than me, but I can do it.” 🎯 If you want to try something new, consider planting a cottage flower garden with me this spring! 🌸🌸🌸 Other people may be able to do it better than us, but we can do it! 🌷🌷🌷 Big thank you to every sweet soul cheering Hey Honeysuckle on in stories, Lovely Laney, Kara at Brookelynne on Spring Salon, and my sweet niece Kate for all the help learning to use a curling iron! I’m determined to do this! 💪 #curlingiron #hairtips #goals #encouragement #flowergardening #trynewthings #cottagegarden #springflowers #beginnergardener

Dreaming of a flower garden that blooms from spring to fall? Plant some bleeding hearts! Is there really a more whimsical perennial plant for a shade garden than bleeding hearts (dicentra)? Aren’t the blooms unique? This beloved garden classic is prized for its charming heart-shaped flowers that dangle delicately from arching stems.

These enchanting blooms, which appear in shades of pink, red, and white, bring a touch of charm and elegance to any shade garden. While their bloom time is relatively short, typically lasting from April to June, their unique beauty and graceful foliage make them a favorite among gardeners.

Bleeding hearts are native to Asia and North America, and they thrive in USDA hardiness zones 3-9, meaning they can tolerate a wide range of temperatures. Depending on the cultivar, they typically grow 1 to 3 feet tall and wide, forming attractive mounds of foliage. Their leaves are fern-like and often have a bluish-green tint, adding to their visual appeal even when not in bloom.

Plant bleeding hearts in partial to full shade near the middle to back of the border depending on the variety so you can conceal the foliage as it begins to die back after blooming.

I love mine planted with hellebores, brunnera, virginia bluebells, lungwort, hostas, and astilbes. Are you growing bleeding hearts yet? If not, will you plant them this year?

Save this post so you remember what to plant in your shade garden later and share it with a friend who would love to grow this easy flower too! Follow for more garden inspiration.
