I wanted to share what l've been doing lately in the mornings when I wake up super stiff, all of these moments are from my new mobility program Sculpt 👉🏽www.tru.training  The less mobile we become, the more in pain and prone to injury we will be. Take these few stretches you can do at home with one tool you can always find: YOUR BODY!   Depending on your own current mobility, these movements can be modified to your own range of motion. - Seated trunk rotations: start easing into the deeper ranges of the rotations. You can start by doing 2-3 sets of 10-20 rotations. I sometimes love to hold the position once l'm warm enough but l often go with what feels good for my body that day. - Cat cow: such an under rated move. Keep those arms nice and straight and let your breath guide the movement. 2-3 sets 12 reps. Inhale as your belly drops, exhale as you round the shoulders and tuck the hips under.  - Happy baby: you may have to find a few towels or straps if you are very tight and can't use your hands to get into the position. Be gentle here and rock side to side 2-3 sets 12 reps. Are “slipped discs” fake? This term is widely used in reference to disc injuries, implying something has moved out of place In reality, these discs are attached to the vertebrae above and below them, and they are not freely moveable Instead, what is moving is the inner gel-like substance called the nucleus pulposus This inner gel of the disc is surrounded by a tough outer layer called the annulus fibrosis When the inner gel pushes outwards into the outer layer it can form a disc bulge When the outer layer tears and the inner gel pushes through it can form a disc herniation And when the disc pushes far enough to impact a nerve, it can cause radiating pain into the glute, down the thigh, down the calf, and even into the toes Commonly, there can be numbness or tingling as well when a nerve is affected There are varying degrees of herniation: Smallest: Protrusion Middle: Extrusion Biggest: Sequestration The GOOD NEWS is that based on the current evidence, the larger the herniation, the higher the chance of healing! So this is why you do not want to rely purely on imaging for your disc herniation prognosis, as imaging can provide unnecessary scary narratives and push you towards surgery or injections when it is not indicated. And 97% of disc herniations can be resolved WITHOUT SURGERY through a proper rehab plan! So if you felt: - a pop in your low back - worse the longer you sit - worse bending forward - hard to stand up straight after sitting You may be dealing with a disc injury. But don’t worry!  I’ve mentioned this many times but in case you didn’t know I come from a full range of motion ass-to-grass squat background and used large range of motion for my first 8 years in the training industry. Unfortunately, it nearly destroyed my body and produced so much pain and inflammation as well as various injuries I almost had to give up training altogether.
 
 Fortunately God led me down a journey where He gave me the tools & education not just how to fix my own body but thousands of others as well. That’s the power of 90 Deg eccentric isometrics. Now I can go deep when needed. Yes these methods have created controversy but that’s the nature of truth!!

If you don’t think you’re stressed… but your body is responding with sensitivities, pain, and inflammation, this is a PSA for you. Trauma is stored in your body and nervous system – not the mind. This is a HUGE part of the work I do in Vital-Side and why I include mental exercises (brain) combined with somatic tools (body) to break the pattern of chronic stress and signal a message of safety. The memory and emotional centers of your brain like your hippocampus and amygdala (limbic system!) store past experiences, including the traumatic ones. When you feel emotions or perceive situations as similar to ones you’ve had in the past, this is your unconscious mechanism of protection. Your brain communicates danger to your body through hormones, and your body communicates danger right back to your brain. This negative feedback loop plays on repeat until the cycle is stopped.
