It built character 😜 I can laugh about it now, but at the time, I begged my mom to bring me back to NYC! 😅 Needless to say, she made me advocate for myself, and I wound up loving college. Here are a few allergy accommodations for college that kept me safe: After the whole roommate situation, I moved into a single apartment—every bad situation has a silver lining. It had a kitchen, so I could cook my own allergy-safe food. 🫶 I’d been carrying my EpiPens since grammar school, but my guidance counselor kept an extra set on hand. My classrooms and activities were peanut-free, and professors couldn’t single me out when announcing it. They’d say, “Someone in this class (or the one before or after) has a severe peanut allergy, so no peanuts are allowed.” This was in response to some boys who said they would purposely eat peanuts around me after a professor mentioned I had the allergy. 🫠 If you’ve dealt with food allergies in school, what accommodations helped you (or your child) stay safe?
