Speedwell is an excellent addition to any deer-resistant garden. This beautiful perennial not only adds vibrant purple blooms to your garden but also stands up well to deer browsing, making it a smart choice for areas where deer pressure is high. 💜 It is super easy to grow and looks so pretty too! I mean look at those gorgeous thick rosy purple blooms that almost look like wands! 💜 Speedwell is less appealing to deer because of its slightly bitter taste and foliage texture. Deer typically avoid plants that are not palatable to them, and speedwell falls into this category. Additionally, deer tend to steer clear of plants with strong scents or rough, fuzzy leaves, which are characteristics often found in deer-resistant plants.💜 Hardy in zones 4-8, plant this perennial in part to full sun in well-draining soil for the best performance. Speedwell is crazy easy to grow thriving in well-drained soil and prefers full sun to partial shade. Once established, it requires minimal care, making it a perfect choice for both beginner and experienced gardeners. Regular deadheading can promote additional blooms, but even without it, the plant maintains a tidy appearance. It’s one of the many reasons I love to grow it!💜 Speedwell blooms long from late spring to mid-summer. This ensures that your garden remains colorful and attractive for an extended time, providing continuous visual interest while keeping the deer at bay.💜 Plant shown is Magic Show Purple Illusion Speedwelll 💜 Save this post and share it with a friend who would love these flowers.
