Normally our glazing videos includes me opening a large bucket and stirring vigorously to be sure the glaze if fully mixed, but we wanted to glaze each ornament a different color so we have gone miniature with glazing these small ornaments. I also had to get creative in drying these ornaments since if I set them on the table, they would surely mess up the glaze application. Having said that I didn’t want to hold them till dry so a little creativity was necessary. A couple of kiln posts and a dowel is the exact thing I needed to hang these to dry as I finish glazing the other ornaments. Finally wadding is applied to the bottom so they can stand up in the kiln. This will ensure they don’t fall over and get stuck to another pot or kiln shelf. I apply the wading in a coil so that I can easily break the wadding away after the firing. This way the hanger stays in tact and doesn’t break when I break away the wadding.
