I tried the HR based training several times over the years for months at a time and it was such a slow progress compared to what I do now. After allโitโs all about focusing on the right effort for whatever workout/run you are doing that day. Effort based training consistently keeps me in the proper zones and has helped me improve my performance faster. It does take a while to learn what each zone should FEEL like ๐๐ผ easy should feel easy, and hard should feel hard BUT there are different levels of hard when it comes to marathon training (threshold/tempo, race pace, interval, etc.), so you just gotta learn what those should feel like for YOU ๐ฏ Anyone else steer clear from checking their HR during runs?
