Did you know that Babe Ruth was not a unanimous choice for the Hall of Fame? One year after his retirement, Ruth was one of the five initial inductees elected to the newly established National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. Despite holding career records for home runs, RBIs, total bases, and walks at the time of his retirement, 11 out of 226 voters did not include him on their ballots. Interestingly, he finished behind Ty Cobb as the leading vote-getter.
