This is what Dan had to say about training for the two races 👇 “What was harder: training for the 100-mile mountain race or the sub-three-hour marathon?  And I’d say ‘hard’ is relative. I’m generally someone who enjoys running whatever pace for however long, whenever and I really like the freedom of my schedule when it comes to miles and how I feel, for training for the 100-mile race.  The training is so specific for the sub three hour that it puts a lot of pressure on you, especially because it’s a faster pace, and you want to be hitting these paces or much faster in training; as the weeks dwindle down, you have to hit longer runs, faster paces, for a longer duration, and that’s where it gets really hard, because if you miss it brings down your confidence going into the race. It’s super important that your diet, your sleep, and all of your recovery tactics are on point, and you’re also being realistic with the paces you’re going to hit in the workout. I do believe that the sub three-hour training was harder than the 100-mile training, but both took a lot of sacrifice, a lot of time, a lot of dedication to get both done.
