IS SOUTH AFRICA SAFE? šŸ‡æšŸ‡¦ā¬‡ļø Yes and no. YES - as a solo woman traveling to Cape Town and Kruger in South Africa, I can say (from at least my personal experience) that there were NO times at all I felt unsafe. BUT I also followed local safety advice and avoided certain areas. No - because EVERYWHERE you travel in the entire world has inherent risks (yes, even the USA and Europe). I'm just tired of people making assumptions about places they've NEVER been to. The media loves to sensationalize bad things about different countries - sometimes they are true and sometimes they are WAY overblown. It's up to YOU to make a choice for yourself, do the research, and ask ACTUAL locals and/or people who have visited the area themselves. All of that being said, I need to acknowledge that at this point I am a HIGHLY experienced solo traveler, so a place I feel safe at might feel unsafe to someone else. And on top of that, I ALWAYS make smart choices everywhere I go, built on my experiences and knowledge - not going anywhere alone at night, having theft-proof bags, checking in with family back home regularly, and other safety tactics. So you might travel to South Africa solo and not feel the same as me. But please give Africa a CHANCE. It is truly SO underrated, and the people there are so welcoming and kind, if you would just see for yourself! Have you ever avoided a place because you heard it was unsafe? .ā  #femalesolotraveler #solotraveler #capetownsouthafrica #visitsouthafrica #travelsouthafrica #travelsolo #girlswhotravel #travelgirls

Did you know you could see PENGUINS in South Africa?! ā  ā  All you have to do is fly 14 hours from New York to reach Cape Town - and you don't even have to go on safari to immediately see wildlife!ā  ā  These are the Boulders Beach penguins, which began as just a few penguin pairs and through conservation efforts have become an entire colony! Parts of the beach are kept human-free for their nesting (but you can observe from a boardwalk) and there is just one area left where you can actually walk on the beach and even swim with them!ā  ā  ***WILDLIFE SAFETY: please let animals approach you and not the other way around. No chasing, no feeding, and move away if you notice ANY uncomfortable or CHANGED behavior from the animals.ā  ā  Would you fly all the way to Cape Town just to see these penguins?!ā  ā  ā  .ā  #penguins #cuteanimals #capetownsouthafrica #southafricatravel #visitsouthafrica #travellovers #wildlifetravel #africansafariā

Can you believe this?! šŸ¤Æ Here's your need to know info ā¬‡ļøā  ā ā  Name a prettier gas station, I'll wait! This is šŸ“ Alzu Petroport, outside of Johannesburg, and en route to Kruger National Park. ā  ā  You'll be able to see eland, blesbok, ostriches, emus, and even RHINOS (!) - all while enjoying a coffee, waffle, or other yummy snack or meal from multiple restaurants on site. There's even a selfie sign with the animals in the backdrop!ā  ā  It's the perfect pitstop between adventures, and probably the only place you'll actually get to see rhinos in South Africa, due to their protected status and low numbers in the wild as a result of poaching.ā  Love this hidden gem? Follow me for more EPIC bucket list travel ideas and itineraries as I solo travel around the world! ā  Would you stop here???ā   ā  .ā  #krugernationalpark #kruger #visitsouthafrica #travelsouthafrica #travelsolo #girlswhotravel #travelgirls ā #solotraveler #CapCut
Why South Africa should be on your bucket list šŸ¤©ā¬‡ļøā  ā  Hey I'm Rebecca, and I'm traveling ALL around the world SOLO - and this is the Africa & Middle East chapter of my trip.ā  I'm just finished adventuring around Cape Town in South Africa and now I'm headed to Kruger National Park!ā  ā  And out of the 20+ countries I've been to on this trip, Cape Town might just be the MOST beautiful city in any country I've ever seen!ā  ā  I'm convinced there are NO better sunsets in the world than the ones you'll see in Cape Town; blue waves crashing on a pristine beach with a jaw-dropping mountain backdrop - it's truly unreal. ā  ā  Add that to the fact that you can go on a safari where you wine taste afterward, you can swim with adorable penguins AND kayak with dolphins, and the diverse culture is SO rich - from clothing to food to buildings and more, Cape Town is unlike anywhere I've ever been. ā  ā  So are you putting Cape Town on your bucket list yet?!ā  ā  ā  .ā  #capetown #ā capetownsouthafrica #southafricatravel #visitsouthafrica #travellovers #travelmore #beautifuldestinationsā  #travelguidesā  #solotraveler #bucketlisttravel ā
