January Costco finds for people with diabetes! It’s a new year, so let’s start the blood sugars off right with some great options! 1. Crisp power protein pretzels - I just can’t get enough of these. 15g of protein per serving, 3g of net carbs, no blood sugar impact, and I swear that flavor profile is THE BEST 2. Wilde protein chips - they’re chicken based, and the Buffalo flavor is out of this world. They also have <5g of carbs per serving so no blood sugar impact 3. Nu trail granola - this flavor is the best, and the total carbs again are <6g. Minimal blood sugar impact and great for a snack on the go 4. Chicken meatballs - great as a side, an app, a main course, heavy on protein, minimal carbs, and super easy to prep for lazy meals Which of these are on your list, and should I do another part in the series? #diabeteseducation #diabetesdiet #typeonediabetes #insulindependent #bloodsugarmanagement #t1dlookslikeme
Aldi is a GREAT place for finding new snacks and new meal options. Here are 4 finds that you will definitely appreciate and so will your blood sugars. #1. Zucchini - a vitamin and mineral powerhouse that’s loaded with fiber, low in carbs, and you can air fry it! #2. Zero sugar jerky - no carbs, great source of protein, super portable, and tastes amazing! #3. Cheese fries - they’re just cheese! Great source of protein and for stabilizing blood sugars #4. Bone broth - a great way to sneak protein into recipes, soups, and more, and its collagen, so something people with diabetes absolutely need, and it’s a great value here! Let me know what I missed and if you want another part in the grocery series! #diabetesfood #typeonediabetes #insulindependent #t1dlookslikeme #bloodsugarmanagement #diabetic

POV: types of patients living with diabetes As registered dietitians, diabetes educators, and people that live with diabetes ourselves, Kyra and I have the pleasure of working with people living with diabetes on a daily basis to improve blood sugars, etc. Here’s a bunch of the different types of patients that we see. Which type of patient are you? #diabetesawareness #diabeteseducator #type1diabetes #diabeteslife #bloodsugarmanagement #insulindependent
Do you need to take Resveratrol if you live with diabetes? You may have heard of Resveratrol because it does a TON of different things for the body. It’s an antioxidant, an anti-inflammatory, it’s been shown to improve blood pressure, protect your brain, and it may even increase your lifespan. However, does it have any positive impact on blood sugars for people living with diabetes? Let’s see what the research says:
In this first study, in a population of people with type 2 diabetes, it showed that there was an improvement in both A1c and in insulin resistance. In a second study, of a population of people with type 1 diabetes, it showed improvement in fasting blood sugar (waking up blood sugar) as well as A1c.   And then, in a review of many different studies, it showed that Resveratrol works positively in people with diabetes because it can increase glucose uptake by the muscle through a similar mechanism to that of exercise…which is pretty awesome. If you decide to take it, most studied doses tend to be between 500-1200mg. I love the SugarMD version because it’s the perfect dose from a reputable source. Ultimately, it is something you could talk to your care team about adding to your regimen. #type1diabetes #diabeteseducation #diabetescontrol #insulindependent #bloodsugarmanagement #t1dlife
Is 2025 going to be the year of your great blood sugars? Every year, millions of people set New Year's resolutions. Every year, over 90% of them fail before the end of January (!!!) So, I’m asking you: Is this going to be THE year where you finally get your blood sugars where you want to be? Where you’re eating the foods you love with confidence? Where you’re doing the things you love with the people you love unrestricted by diabetes? Or will this be another year of setting a blood sugar goal that just falls by the wayside before Superbowl Sunday? The choice is up to you. #typeonediabetes #t1dlookslikeme #insulindependent #diabeteslife #bloodsugarmanagement

Do you need maca root if you live with diabetes? Maca root is a very fun supplement because it can help with things like libido, testosterone, menopause symptoms,  and even sports performance but will it also help your blood sugars?
Let’s see what the science says:

In this first study that was conducted in rats with Type 2 diabetes maca root improved beta cell function, hyperglycemia, as well as oxidative stress. So, a positive start but it was in rats. In the second study, they reviewed all of the animal studies involving maca root and diabetes populations and all 6 of them were mice or rats. However, oral maca extracts reduced glucose levels in diabetes rodent models and decreased oxidative stress. So another positive in favor of maca root, however, that’s a very small sample size and none of them were human. This third study had mice with both Type 1 diabetes as well as ED (which can be a common paring due to blood flow issues). The maca root actually helped with both blood sugar and the ED. So what’s the verdict? The jury is out because more studies were done on rodent models. However, there have been human studies done testing other things in non-diabetes populations so talk with your care team if it’s something that may be of interest to you. The starting dose tends to be between 1.5-3g per day. I really like SugarMD as a brand because each capsule is 1,000mg so it’s very easy math to start it off slow and work your way up. Do you take maca root? Let me know! #macaroot #type1diabetes #diabeteseducation #insulindependent #t1dlookslikeme #bloodsugarmanagement

Perimenopause: The Toughest Battle Your Body Faces? While people may compliment how you look, the reality is, you feel awful! You’re experiencing anxiety you’ve never felt before, your brain fog is out of control, you wake up in the middle of the night and can’t fall back asleep, racing thoughts take over, you sweat for no reason, and you just want to escape everything you’ve worked so hard for. It feels like you’re losing your mind, but you’re still managing to keep up appearances with that beautiful smile. Trust me, I understand exactly what that feels like! 💔 Are you doing everything right, but nothing seems to work anymore? You eat healthy, you exercise, but the scale keeps creeping up? I’ve been there too! I even thought, "Maybe this is just my new normal." 😩 But I refused to accept feeling miserable every single day, so I chose to fight back. During menopause, constant stress on our bodies leads to excess cortisol production, which makes it incredibly hard to lose weight. High cortisol levels can cause increased appetite, cravings for unhealthy foods, and even encourage fat storage—especially around your face and belly. It’s a vicious cycle. 🫣 Hormones can be a mess during this phase of life! However, when your hormones are in balance, life can feel amazing again! I feel like myself once more! With the right supplementation, you can help balance your cortisol levels and make your weight loss journey so much easier. Follow me and comment “Cortisol” to learn about the combo I use that’s helped me shed pounds and feel incredible again! 🙌🏼 #cortisol #fatburning #hormonehealth #hormonebalance #glp1 #bloodsugarlevels #bloodsugarmanagement #hormoneimbalance #bloodsugar #ladiesover40 #ladiesover50 #menopause #perimenopause #menopausesupport #postmenopause #holistichealing #adrenalinsufficiency #minimizebloating #HealthAwareness #HealingJourney #PainManagement #pain

Have you ever found it hard to lose weight, even though you're doing everything right? It might be because your body is stuck in "Fight or Flight" mode, causing high cortisol levels without you even realizing it. When we're under constant stress, our bodies produce excessive cortisol, a hormone that makes it harder to lose those stubborn pounds. High cortisol can lead to increased appetite, cravings for unhealthy foods, and even fat storage—especially around the waist. But don’t worry! Understanding this connection is the first step toward reaching your health goals. Managing stress through mindfulness, regular exercise, proper sleep, and proper supplements, can help regulate your cortisol levels and make your weight loss journey easier. Here’s what I did to lose 10lbs and reduce stress in my life: *Prioritized sleep – Bedtime before 10:45pm and up by 5:45am. *Eating small, consistent meals throughout the day to keep my blood sugar stable, with plenty of protein! *Focused on movement – walking, lifting, resistance bands, recumbent bike, etc. *Used supplements that naturally support cortisol levels and mood stability throughout the day. I’m so thankful to the friend who introduced me to the viral cortisol cocktail! I’ve lost 10 pounds and 10 inches, have endless energy, more patience, and I’m finally sleeping well and waking up refreshed! Thisss is why you always want to have balanced meals #dietitiansoftiktok #bostonblogger #wellnessblogger #fiber #balancedmeals #bloodsugarbalance #bloodsugar #bloodsugarmanagement #healthtips
@theglucosegirls tested it out and saw a noticeable glucose spike on both cases! This experiment is an excellent reminder of bio-individuality—each body is unique, as are our glucose curves. Juicing removes the fiber from fruits and veggies, leaving behind all the sugar and nutrients but none of the fiber’s balancing benefits. That fiber is key to slowing glucose absorption and keeping levels steady. Plus, in this case, the juice wasn’t fresh-squeezed but artificial, which can make a big difference! It’s not about avoiding juice altogether—it’s about being mindful of when and how you consume it. If you do want to juice, try juicing once a day and pair your juice with a bit of protein to help slow the sugar uptake Want to understand how your body reacts to different foods?
