Replying to @twinkleslilstar1 They told us the story starts in 1870, but we know better. This wall isn’t the end—it’s a new beginning. The hard part. Let me show you how to break through and see the history they tried to bury. #1870Wall #BlackGenealogy #BristerEnglishProject #formerlovepoet #Genealogy #tangiblehistory #bristerep
Replying to @drayalacolevanity Records involving slavery in Virginia. These are just a few of many resources. Also check for these types of records in AL. Bills of sales, deeds of gift, probate records, estate records, newspapers like runaway ads and stories. Not saying you’ll find anything but it’s always worth a look. #BristerEnglishProject #tangiblehistory #formerlovepoet #BlackGenealogy #genealogy #slaverecords #FamilyHistory #virginia #bristerep
Things to leave in 2024 Part 2 - Racists lying…a lot…in the age of information… Google can give you wrong information. Especially if you’re not clicking on the actual link you claim to be “researching”. It’s lazy. #formerlovepoet #bristerenglishproject #tangiblehistory #bristerep
Replying to @Walt Way I downloaded and uploaded every volume of the WPA Slave Narratives and you can get them all at no cost. If I can get something that benefits the community, I’m going to share it. That’s how I was raised. I have enough to feed everyone. Make sure to check out the other resources I have in that database. “Google is free” 🤦🏾‍♂️ Google is a search engine. You have to actually look into those links. And please, for the love of everything, look at where google Ai gets its information. Things to leave in 2024 part 1 - The denial of chattel slavery here in America. Anyways, here’s a place to look for deeds involving our enslaved ancestors. I’m going to reupload older videos in this “things to leave in 2024” series. It’s videos of me responding to some of the most “colorful” comments. #Genealogy #BlackGenealogy #BristerEnglishProject #formerlovepoet #tangiblehistory #bristerep #slavedeeds #GenealogyTips #slavery

Can we leave this in 2024? “tHe FiRSt eNslavER wAs BlacK”…No. Stop it. Get some help. They love to spread the lie that the first enslaver in America was Black, so let me say this. facts don’t lie, people do. This myth is just another way to rewrite history and shift the blame away from a system built to oppress us. That’s why the Brister English Project exists, so we can reclaim our truth, piece together our stories, and honor our ancestors. We’re not just doing genealogy; we’re preserving the legacy they tried to erase. #bristerenglishproject #bristerep #formerlovepoet #genealogy #anthonyjohnson #tangiblehistory
Wait until the end…@✨Marisa Z.✨ @✨Marisa Z.✨ I remixed this older video. Add a few new things and kept others. Tell me what you think. Shout out pops at the beginning! As we wrap up 2025, I want to remind people what I do. Ancestral healing through genealogy. Donate to the Brister English Project. Help with moving the project to Vegas so we can expand and get the even larger conversations started on the west coast. #formerlovepoet #bristerenglishproject #bristerep#tangiblehistory #blackgenealogy #historytok #genealogy #BlackFamilyHistory #BEP2025
Replying to @𝕥𝕒𝕤𝕙𝕣𝕖𝕟𝕒𝕪 I uploaded this December 7th, 2021. My grandma is still here but has been in the hospital since December 7th of 2024. She has always been my biggest supporter. Especially when it came down to helping me with this. She’s a praying woman, so please 🙏🏾 She mentioned her father, River Willis, and the sticky stuff from a tree. I found his occupantion listed as turpentine tree worker. Along with another family member. Her story about her aunt Blanche led me to finding the kids she mentioned. That helped me get further along on my personal journey. Talk to your elders while they’re here. Spark up conversation about someone. Ask questions that they’re willing answer. #formerlovepoet #bristerenglishproject #tangiblehistory #GenealogyTips #BlackFamilyHistory #blackgenealogy #AncestryResearch #FamilyTree #AfricanAmericanGenealogy #genealogy #bristerep #tangiblehistory #nonbprofit #slavery #resources #genealogy #grandma

How to build your own digital archive using the 3-2-1 method. 3 Copies: Always have your original file, a backup on an external hard drive, and a copy in the cloud. 2 Storage Types: Don’t rely on just one form of storage! combine options like hard drives, USBs, or cloud services to reduce risk. 1 Offsite Copy: Store one copy offsite for emergencies. Use cloud storage or leave an external drive with a trusted friend or family member. A lot of historians do this. Tips to start your digital archive: Organize your files into folders with clear labels like “Grandma’s Photos 1960” or “Family Reunion 2005.” Use scanners or apps like Adobe Scan to digitize old photos and documents. Check your backups regularly—files are no good if they’re corrupted! Preserve your legacy today, because the stories you save might just be the ones your future generations need. ⭐️Recommended Tools⭐️ • Cloud Storage: Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud, Backblaze. • Backup Software: Acronis True Image, Time Machine (Mac), or Windows Backup. • File Management: Excel, Airtable, or a dedicated cataloging app. • Metadata Tools: ExifTool (for photos), Tropy (for research materials). • Digitizing Tools: Flatbed scanner, high-resolution cameras, or apps like Adobe Scan. Bonus Tips for Archiving • Protect Your Files with Encryption: For sensitive materials, encrypt files before storing them in the cloud or on external drives. • Use Archival-Grade Materials: For physical backups, consider archival-grade discs or drives with longer lifespans. • Include Instructions for Access: Document where each backup is stored and how to access it in case someone else needs to retrieve the archive. #formerlovepoet #bristerenglishproject #tangiblehistory #GenealogyTips #BlackFamilyHistory #blackgenealogy #AncestryResearch #FamilyTree #AfricanAmericanGenealogy #genealogy #bristerep #tangiblehistory #nonbprofit #DigitalArchive #FamilyHistory #PreserveYourLegacy
