Eat your fiber 🥦 first, protein 🥩 second, and carbs 🍚 last. This, my friend, is known as food sequencing. And yes, raw, steamed, cooked, frozen, and canned veggies are all OK. When you eat in this particular order fiber can help slow down the absorption of sugar from other foods. How? Well, fiber is a type of carbohydrate that the body can’t digest and instead passes through the body undigested helping to blunt blood sugar spikes. The next time you eat always ask yourself “where’s my fiber?” Adding a side of cooked asparagus or a raw salad makes a difference. #eatmoreplantschallenge #fiberfirst #haveaplant #haveaplantifulday #bloodsugarbalance #diabetesmanagementtips #diabetestype2prevention
Here’s the deal 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾 There’s one thing I like to do when I work with someone who tells me they “CAN’T EAT” potatoes 🍠 . I like to do a trial run to determine how their body reacts to a particular food. When eating potatoes this is what I emphasize. 1️⃣ Watch your portion size. Eating an entire potato will have a different blood sugar response than eating 1/4 of a potato. 2️⃣ Pair your potato with protein 🍗 and fat to slow down how quickly your blood sugar rises. 3️⃣Eat leftovers. When you cook, refrigerate it, and then eat leftovers the next day, this builds up resistance starch. This type of starch is ‘resistant’ to digestion, causing blood sugar levels to rise slowly compared to other carbohydrates. 4️⃣Potates act as a prebiotic fiber which is grrreeaat for your gut 🦠 health. If you want to dive a bit deeper, this Wednesday, I’m having a masterclass on how to tap into your gut health for better blood sugar. We’ll go beyond the basics and explore advanced strategies for optimizing your gut health and managing your blood sugar levels. You’ll: 🔹 Discover nourishing foods and beverages that support gut health 🔹 Explore the important connection between your gut and overall body wellness 🔹 Understand the impact of seed oils on your health 🔹 Assess whether probiotic and prebiotic supplements are beneficial for you and learn which ones to consider Tap the link in my bio to register for only $23 and start your journey towards better gut health and blood sugar balance. See you on the inside. #diabetesmanagementtips #diabeteshealth #diabeteshealthtips #type2diabetic #prediabetesdiet #prediabeteshealth #guthealthiseverything #type2diabetics #bloodsugarbalance #bloodsugarcontrol
