Autism and Special Interests: Finding Your Voice. Special interests are often the heart of self-expression for us who have Autism. It is a way to find joy, purpose, a catharsis, and even a voice in a world that sometimes doesn’t understand. My special interests include piano playing, juggling, photography, teaching/education, video making, writing, speaking, drawing, and more. In this reel, I dive into the importance of special interests and the fact that we simply want to share. In one sense, special interests shape our identity sometimes. Please feel free to add your own description and experience of Autism (or any Disability) in the comments section, in order to help further spread awareness and spark meaningful discussions. Your voice matters as much as mine! (This reel is a highlighted segment of a YouTube video that I previously uploaded. My full video is on YouTube if you want to watch it in its entirety.) If you want, please head over to my YouTube channel, TikTok, and/or Facebook page for daily reels/shorts about Autism/Disability Awareness, Acceptance, and Inclusion—as well as motivation, encouragement, and much more. If you feel led, please share with others. (I would type "Unstoppable Matthew Kenslow" in the search to make it easier.)
