There are also several different types of feeding tubes that can be used. Typically they are broken down into nasal and surgical tubes. Nasal tubes as the name implies, go up the nose and then down into the GI tract. NG tubes terminate in the stomach, while NJ tubes terminate in the jejunum (small intestine). Surgical tubes are implanted into the abdomen directly and have various types as well: G tube (access to stomach) , J tube (jejunum ), or GJ (access to both). The specifics of tube feeding is gonna vary person to person though!
