π Exciting News π As we step into 2025, we are thrilled to announce a significant development. The International Pleroma Convocation (IPC) and Salama Cancer Center have come together to inaugurate the Mindful Feeding Initiative food bank at Salama Cancer Center in Kisumu, Kenya. The pivotal agreement was officially sealed at Salama Cancer Center by Ms. Otuoma, IPC's deputy executive director, and Dr. Watanga, Salama Cancer Center's Co-Founder and CEO. This innovative food bank is tailored to support cancer patients undergoing infusion chemotherapy treatment. The primary objective is to mitigate the adverse side effects of this treatment by ensuring patients, especially those from low socio-economic backgrounds, have access to biweekly provisions of nutritious food. Additionally, patients will receive guidance on portion control and healthy eating habits throughout their treatment journey, empowering them to sustain a well-nourished lifestyle post-treatment. Those outside the specified category will also benefit from food assistance during monthly nutrition education sessions at the center. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our existing partners who have already pledged their invaluable support in stocking the food bank with wholesome food options. We invite more collaborators to join us as we work towards opening the food bank to patients in Kisumu and surrounding areas by February 2025. For partnership inquiries, reach out to us at
[email protected] or dial +254102487248. Emphasizing a commitment to health, the food bank will exclusively offer whole grains, healthy cereals, and other nutritious selections. Patients can rest assured that processed foods and items containing preservatives will not be part of the offerings. The upcoming year holds promise for us as we embark on this transformative journey. Here's to a fulfilling and prosperous New Year, 2025! π
