A heartwarming day out for some of our long timers. Life hasn’t always been kind to Cedric, Sophia, and Chakra, but today was a reminder of the love every dog deserves. These three special pups have been through so much, and we wanted to give them a break from the shelter to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine at the park. ♥️   🐾 Cedric (2 years old)
Cedric is a total sweetheart! While his past remains a mystery, we know he is a highly affectionate and playful dog who loves making new friends. Cedric is treat-motivated, knows “sit,” and loves to cuddle after he’s burned off some energy. Sophia is the queen of zoomies and self-play! This playful, silly girl loves tossing her toys in the air, running, and then snuggling up when she’s ready to relax. Sophia gets along well with other dogs and is curious about cats. She’s searching for an active, loving home. Chakra has been patiently waiting since early November for her second chance at love. She’s a toy enthusiast who carefully selects her favorites and finds pure happiness in playtime. Chakra is housebroken, knows “sit,” and adores being petted.   These incredible dogs are ready to share the unconditional love they so freely give. She didn’t deserves this 💔   Dianne came to our shelter showing clear signs of abuse and neglect. She was born with a neurological condition that causes her to wobble when she walks. She was hit by a car, used for breeding, and then thrown away when she was no longer wanted.   Despite all she’s been through, Diane is one of the sweetest dogs we’ve ever met. She doesn’t hold a grudge against the world that let her down. Her tail still wags, and she leans in for chin and belly scratches every chance she gets. Her wobble doesn’t cause her pain and won’t get worse. It’s just part of who she is. She quietly waits in her kennel, even as other dogs bark around her, hoping someone will see her for the loving dog she is.   Diane deserves a second chance at life. She deserves to feel safe, loved, and cared for. She’s been through so much, but she’s still holding on to hope.   Today is also National Dress Up Your Pet Day! Dianne helped us model some of the exciting incentive prizes for the 35th Annual Walk for the Animals! The more you raise for the walk, the more s’wag and rewards you will earn. Loving and playful, it doesn’t get much sweeter than this girl! Sadly this sweet 2-year-old is getting overlooked and all she wants is a family to love. She is our longest resident and has been in the shelter for over 100 days. Karla was transferred to the Humane Society of Broward County from Madison County before hurricane Helene hit the area. Karla is a friendly gal who walks well on a leash, is affectionate, likes treats and loves to be pet. She plays with toys, is curious, and may want to try and sit in your lap. Karla has tested positive for heartworm. This is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito and is not contagious to people or other animals. It can be very costly to treat, but the shelter will cover the costs for this so that Karla can live a long healthy life. She just needs a loving family to give her a chance. Are you that family? Joe needs a loving home 🙏💔 This gentle 3-year-old hound mix is struggling in the shelter environment, but his sweet, shy spirit is impossible to resist. Joe came to us heartworm positive and incredibly nervous, but with patience and love, he’s starting to blossom. Once he feels safe, Joe becomes a total cuddlebug who adores affection. Joe enjoys peaceful walks, gets along well with other dogs, and is house-trained. His foster family described him as “the sweetest boy ever” who just needs a family to show him love. ❤️ We know heartworm treatment can seem overwhelming, but it’s completely manageable! Cedric had an exciting day visiting Jade Alexander at @HITS 97.3 to raise awareness about the VCA Walk for the Animals happening on February 1st! He’s hoping to find his forever home in time to join the fun and walk with everyone. 🐾 The big Walk is just two weeks away, and the excitement is building! The cutest little black panther! 🐈‍⬛ ❤️   Meet Neptune, a 2-year-old bundle of sweetness and energy! 🌟 This playful, curious, and affectionate girl is ready to roll her way into your heart—literally! She loves attention, head scratches, and even gives gentle love bites and licks when she’s feeling extra cuddly. 💕   Neptune is fantastic with kids, gets along well with other cats, and loves humans. 🥰 She’s all about chasing string toys, playing fetch, and keeping you entertained with her fun and vocal personality.
