Climbing through this snowy wilderness, watching the sun slowly spread across the valley felt like being in a literal winter postcard. The sweeping views of Mt. Shuksan & Baker at the top are worth every frozen step. ❄️💙 Snowshoeing to Artist Point, WA deets ✨ The trail starts from the upper parking lot at Mt. Baker Ski Area. 4 miles RT with ~1000 ft gain. Best time to go? Dec–March for full snow coverage. And I recommend starting very early to avoid the crowds. I went during the week and leaving by 8:30 AM it was already getting very full. Always check avalanche conditions (nwac.us) and bring the 10 essentials! Have you explored Artist Point in winter? Save this post for your next snowy adventure and let me know your favorite snowshoe trails in the comments! ❄️👣 #artistpoint #snowshoeingadventures #mountbaker #pnwwonderland #winterhikes #washingtontrails #optoutside #adventuremore #pnwadventures #getoutdoors

More Information & Tips ⤵️ 1. Microspikes are great for winter hiking because they provide extra traction on icy or snowy terrain, preventing slips without the bulk of crampons. They’re lightweight, easy to use, and work well on packed snow or ice, making them perfect for non-technical winter hikes. Tip: If possible, try on different sizes and types of microspikes with your winter hiking shoes to make sure they fit properly and don’t mover around. 2. Trekking Poles are great for winter hiking because they help maintain balance on slippery or uneven surfaces, reduce strain on your knees, and provide extra stability when crossing icy or snowy terrain. They also help with pacing and can act as a tool for testing snow depth or ice stability. Tip: Get a set of poles with snow baskets so they don’t punch straight through the snow. 3. Snowshoes are great for winter hiking because they distribute your weight over a larger surface area, preventing you from sinking too deep into soft snow. This makes walking in deep, powdery snow easier and less tiring. They also improve stability and traction on snow-covered trails, allowing you to hike longer distances with less effort. Tip: Snowshoes are sized by weight, so make sure to consider the weight of yourself and your winter gear when choosing a pair. ✅ Follow us @the.guidebook for trail recommendations, campsite information, and hiking, camping, & travel tips. 📌 Tips for Responsible Recreation: 🌎 Leave it better than you found it. 🥾 Stay on the trail. ⛺️ Camp on durable surfaces. 🐻 Respect wildlife & keep your distance. 🚮 Pack out your trash & any trash you find. 😀 Be respectful to others. ⚠️ Follow local rules & regulations. 🎒 Bring the proper gear & stay safe. ⛈️ Always check current local weather. #winterincolorado #winterhikes #winterhiking #hikinggear #Hiking #hiker #hikerlife #couplestravel #adventurecouple #traveltips #travelguide
