Yes, the grass really is greener on the other side of your diagnosis. 🌱How do I know? Because I’ve lived it. 👉When I was diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease and other co-infections, I was told to make myself comfortable—that I was going to have to live that way forever. But I refused to believe this.🙅🏻‍♀️ 🧠Then I started learning about the healing properties of the brain and how our thoughts & beliefs have the ability to alter the cells in our body. (Something I didn’t learn as a physician assistant and that was never mentioned in all my doctors’ appointments over the years.) You see, labels pack a lot of meaning into a single definitive concept. 💡When something has a label, there’s no need to question what it is; its meaning has already been defined and we accept it without question. When we accept a label, it becomes a part of our identity and how we define ourselves. Our consciousness causes us to act in ways that will bring about exactly what we’re expecting. I came to a point where I no longer identified as a “Lymie” or a “spoonie.” That wasn’t the destiny I envisioned for myself. 🏷To quote philosopher Søren Kierkegaard, “Once you label me, you negate me. You negate all the things I could possibly be.” Although labels can help us to make sense of what may be happening in our bodies and inform us on the best course of action to take, LABELS ARE LIMITATIONS. ⚠️It’s important to remain open to our LIMITLESS POTENTIAL TO HEAL. You don’t have to adopt the labels that others have put on you as your own—you get to choose whether or not they’re applicable. 🔻Yes, we are informed by our past and other people’s opinions—but it does not determine who we are. 🔻Yes, we can choose to accept or reject those ideas. Ask yourself, “Which of these ideas do I want to experience and which do I want to let go of?” It is YOU who holds the power to HEAL.✨ If the identity you’ve created up to this point doesn’t suit you, you can change it. ⚡️You have the power, the ability, and the right to change. A toxic environment (like a relationship) doesn’t just mess with your vibes—it rewires your biology. 😳 It turns on genes that cause disease and shuts down the ones that protect you. Your mood and surroundings literally shape your health. So, protect your peace—it’s not just self-care, it’s survival. 🌿✨ #epigenetics #geneexpression #embodiment #toxicrelationship
Rewire includes EFT tapping (among many other modalities). So let me tell you about tapping aka the Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)? 👆It's a practice that consists of tapping with your fingertips on specific meridian points while talking through traumatic memories and a wide range of emotions. Tapping incorporates various alternative medicine modalities, including acupuncture, neurolinguistic programming (NLP), energy medicine, and Thought Field Therapy (TFT). So, how can EFT help those with chronic illness? We now know that painful & traumatic memories are stored in the cells of the body…even those you cannot consciously remember. Using EFT, we can change the references held in the subconscious that result in chronic symptoms. This technique disrupts the production of the chemicals that cause the feeling of fear, anger, anxiety or any other negative emotion and changes the meaning of that traumatic memory in the subconscious to one of peace. ☮️ Ready to get started? 🔸First, identify the issue you want to address. This could be a physical or emotional symptom. 🔸For example: a sore shoulder. First we acknowledge the problem, and then we accept ourselves in spite of it. We do this by saying, “Even though I have this sore shoulder, I deeply and completely accept myself.” 🔸Now, locate the karate chop point on your non-dominant hand. This point is located at the center of the fleshy part of the outside of your hand between the top of the wrist and the base of the baby finger. (A Google image search of “karate chop point” can help you find it.) 🔸Tapping is done with two or more fingertips so you can cover a larger area and ensure that you’re covering the correct point. 🔸Begin tapping on this point and continue for one minute. In our most comprehensive program, Rewire, we use tapping any MANY other modalities to help you break the chronic stress response. #parasympathetic #autonomicnervoussystem #vagusnerve #neuroplasticity #epigenetics #inflammation #inflammationrelief #fightflightfreeze #fightorflight #neuroscience #anxietyawareness #mcas #chronicfatiguewarrior #lymediseasewarrior #lymediseasetreatment #spoonie #ehlersdanlossyndrome⠀ #mcas #potssyndrome #moldillness #fibromyalgiawarrior

Essentially, the vagus nerve is the queen of the parasympathetic nervous system. 👑 Why is this important? When the body is focused on survival: 🚨it shuts down nonessential systems, like the digestive and immune systems, to allow more energy for emergency functions 🚨the brain has trouble focusing on small tasks because energy is directed to focus only on the big picture in order to determine where the threat is coming from The stress response was intelligently designed to keep us safe during short-term periods of danger. The problem is, most of us are operating in “fight-or-flight” mode a large portion of the time. Activating the vagus nerve can improve our ability to: ⚡️fight inflammatory disease ⚡️detox effectively ⚡️sharpen our memories ⚡️lessen depression & anxiety ⚡️promote better sleep So how does it do this? Stimulating the vagus nerve has a really powerful effect on slowing the heart rate. Your body senses your breathing and adapts its heart rate in response. Are you going through a major life transition like a break up, move, or job change? You can start the process of brain retraining today more at the 🔗 in my bio #parasympathetic #autonomicnervoussystem #vagusnerve #neuroplasticity #epigenetics #behaviorchange #habitchange #functionalmedicine #fxmed #neuroplasticity #epigenetics
During and After this special 1.1 Hours (of DUAL) with a still (at that time Navy TA-4J IP card), as my Pilot aboard the Collings Foundation (West) Douglas TA-4F Skyhawk in USMC Colors. Built in the same year I was born this jet and I also have my father in common (a large part of his first half of Navy Flying prior to the F-8 and F-4. He flew as a VA86 Sidewinder off the USS Independence in 65-66, Yankee Station, and after a "Med" cruise with 86, he was assigned to VA-44 an East Coast RAG Squadron as an Instructor since he had Combat Experiene to install on young Aviators- He itched to return to combat, BuPers had other ideas so he went to the Reserves and Delta right quick in 1967. When He was still at VA44 they got in the new TA-4J to train in so I felt the nostalgic introspection of connection to dad and that era that was quite special. I saw the same thing with family members reliving history with their father or grandfather (and grandmother WASP's), of the greatest generation (WWII) come out to the FOFM museum at Love Field when the CF brought the bomber tour through annually. To watch them touch the machine, go back in time and be there again was magic. And their kids, grand kids and others were there to see this- It's an amazing thing to feel. My father's stories are famous in Naval Aviation Circles, especially by his stories as "The Further Adventures of Youthly Person" [His alter ego, to protect the "innocent", As I grew up with many at the dinner table, but later, I got the story hot off the Printer, before he sent it off to the 'Hook' Magazine where he was an associate editor for years! This flight was about so much more than just fast roll rates (720°Per Second) it was about imagining what my father felt as a 24 year old first time FEET dry in 65'! No one was shooting us though! #fly #fyp #a4skyhawk #a4 #tailhook #sunset #connection #history #DNA #epigenetics

Do you have MCAS and are curious how nervous system regulation can help to improve symptoms? With MCAS, you may feel the need to avoid certain environments to prevent your symptoms from flaring up. 🚩These sensitivities are very REAL. But what you may not know is that they have a direct correlation to the stress response. A nervous system that is always on high alert can lead to high responsiveness to stimuli and a disarmed immune system. 👉🏼When we calm the autonomic nervous system, we can remain empathetic and ‘tuned in’, without the acute reactions that decrease our quality of life. We can protect our energy. ⁣ Hypersensitivity is a limbic system condition that can be brought on by neurological trauma which may involve:⁣ ⁣ 🔹toxic chemicals⁣ 🔹viruses & bacteria⁣ 🔹stimuli bombardment⁣ 🔹emotional & psychological stress⁣ ⁣ Our body’s ability to effectively rest, digest, and regenerate are negatively impacted by these chronic trauma cycles.⁣ ⁣ 🧠But when we change our response, we can make changes to our brains and our symptoms for the better.⁣ ⁣ Through targeted techniques like those I teach in Vital-Side, we can prevent our brains from traveling these same neural pathways day after day to decrease the overactive stress response.⁣ 💡We can be highly attuned without being highly reactive in less than ideal environments. 💡We can use our empathic superpowers to enhance our lives and the lives of others, with optimal health and well-being at the forefront of our awareness.
