Here's part of the caption to the most viewed reel: Root canals are NOT the only option. In fact, I don’t do them in my office because sooner or later they will get infected. And once they are infected they cause all sorts of problems. Random pain, I’ve seen patients with infected root canals that have cancer (not saying it caused it), autoimmune diseases, sinus infections, sleep apnea, etc. Really the only time I ever recommend a root canal is if you have a child that has a dead tooth and needs to hold the space till he or she can get a ceramic implant. If your tooth is still alive (and there can be vitality tests - heat, etc- done to see if it’s alive) then try to save it with ozone from a functional dentist. If your tooth is dead, then get a ceramic implant. If you have already had a root canal, depending on how long you’ve had it for, it could already be infected and you have no idea. Use a cone beam ct scan to see if it’s infected or not. "According to the American Association of Endodontists, currently 22.3 million endodontic procedures are being performed annually with the success rate of 70-95% and the average survival rate of the root canal procedure is approximately 67% after 5 years and 56% after 8 years." https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33435125/ Up to 65% of root canals have xray evidence of new infection at the end of the root. More infections are found on Cone Beam CT scans. "Among Western populations, between 41 and 59% of individuals are estimated to have undergone at least one endodontic treatment, yet 24–65% of these treated root canals remain associated with radiographic evidence of persistent apical periodontitis." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8757850/ Risk for cardiovascular disease is 1.38 times that for someone that doesn't have a reinfected root canal. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8430722/
