It has been less than 48 hours without my dreadlock extensions and I just feel like I am in an emotional slump! Maybe it is the weather. Maybe it is because I have a terrible cold. Maybe it is because school starts back up on Monday and everybody is home and climbing the walls. Maybe it is a little bit of a metaphorical holiday hangover. Maybe it is all of those things. It probably is. But I know the quickest fix. And that is to get more extensions into my hair ASAP. Few things make me feel as happy as looking in the mirror and LOVING my hair. Eras 3.0 making it’s debut. This is a custom order headed to Rhode Island. It is 50 (+3 extras) curly double-ended synthetic dreadlocks with some braids. I also added in a feather accessory because…I mean…look at it. It goes beautifully. I have this exact hair and feather accessory linked in my bio via linktree. I always love making this set. I just quietly work and allow myself to swirl in my memories and I think of all of the magic I have lived since making my first Eras set. I feel like a very lucky person to have had those experiences. Making hair like this has changed my life. Have you noticed that I haven’t posted recently? It is because I hate the way I look without them. When my locs are in…everything is better. I want to get dressed and put on makeup. I want to go out. I want to engage. I am confident. Without them…I wear sweats or jammies and a gross ponytail. I don’t put on makeup. I don’t want to go anywhere. I don’t want my picture taken. Truthfully…without them…I am a little miserable. Here it is…2024 creation highlights. I feel like I kept 2024 pretty chill. At least compared to 2023. I just wanted to enjoy what I was doing. I was choosing what I did versus doing things out of obligation or to just make money. I did all of these things because I wanted to. When I started my shop and creating…I did whatever I had to do just to get on the map. I loved it! I met cool people and made some really neat things! I grew as a person and an artist. My appreciation for what other people liked and wanted developed and grew. But that’s not what is steering my ship anymore. I am letting my happiness…my soul…my instincts…I am letting those things steer me now. I never know what is going to happen! Buh bye map! We are in uncharted waters and it is FUN and exciting and I don’t feel scared of it anymore! I am still so inspired by all of you: the things you say, share, request, do. You are the water that keeps my ship afloat. It is nice to be free from “have to” and to live in a space of “want to.” If people like it…awesome. If they don’t…oh well. My measuring stick is this: do I like it? Because if I like it, then I am at peace. Is that selfish? I suppose it is. I build my creations on what I like and if it doesn’t sell then I will keep it. And wear it! And be fab!! And happy!!! After all…I am an artist—not a contractor. If you found me and you like my stuff—that is the win. That is the goal. I did it. I’m doing it.
