After a workout, consuming protein is important for muscle repair and growth. You may often hear that it is recommended to eat protein within 45 minutes after a workout.  30 mins to 2 hours after a workout is considered the “anabolic window,”. This is considered a time when the body is particularly receptive to nutrient intake, especially protein and carbohydrates. Which helps muscle repair and growth. This consumption window of protein has been debated and although it may be beneficial, my personal opinion is that overall daily nutrient intake is more important then timing.  But don’t forget – I am training for life.  Not a competition – which may different. The daily amount of protein one needs is based on individual goals, health issues, body weight and workout intensity.
