The duality of man. I still get comments defending Squat U on another video I used a clip of theirs in, and you know what, that's fine. I didn't deliver nuance that time, and I should have. Do I single out and use Squat U because they are uniquely awful? No. I used their clip because they're are very recognizable and easy to find when I want to include a short clip to create juxtapostion for comedic effect. Do I think they should be completely ignored? Usually no. A lot, if not the majority, of their information is very reasonable. Given their target audience that percentage probably increases. My issue is mostly not with the content, but the audience. People watch content that focuses on beginner best practices and biomechanical fundamentals and turn it into an absolute world view. They fail to accept that their lack of knowledge and experience leaves them incapable of understanding the nuances of lifting and anatomical capability, as well as technical changes more advanced lifters can and should make. People refuse to accept the limits of their own expertise, it's something we are all guilty of to varying degrees. I don't really expect Squat U or similar content creators to add an extensive caveat list to everything they make, so the best I can do is put out material presenting a higher level understanding of what you can do when lifting, and put my money where my mouth is with demonstrations, and let those that want to develop and better, more complete, understanding do so. Those unwilling to take it into consideration probably aren't the types that will ever reach the point of being able to put these facts into practice anyways.
