Compound lifts engage multiple muscles, but accessory moves allow you to isolate specific parts of the quads (e.g., vastus medialis, vastus lateralis) for balanced development. Accessory exercises can address weaknesses or imbalances that may limit performance in your compound lifts. Compound lifts alone may not provide enough volume to fully stimulate quad growth. Accessory exercises allow you to safely add more sets and reps for muscle hypertrophy without excessively taxing your central nervous system.
